I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use dogs in my office while doing therapy. Please schedule telehealth or advise in advance if you are not comfortable in an office with animals. They do provide therapeutic support to clients and have been part of my practice for some time. I hold licenses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and specialty certification as a Certified Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am a firm believer in everything that happens creates the person. I am a whole life counselor and work with people to explore what it would take to move past the difficult times in life. I take the time to get to know my clients and have many clients who have been with me for years. That doesn't mean someone will see me every week for the rest of their life. It means client know I am available when they have need. I do have clients who have seen me weekly for years not because they are dependent on me but because they have found benefit in processing their life regularly. I have had a successful personal practice for years and can offer clients the space and reverence to unpack the most unpleasant things to reorder them in a way they no longer can cause harm as they once did. There is no perfect childhood and it is likely families do the best they can and it may not have filled the needs of their child. I am happy to take as much time as needed to work through the problem as you understand it.
In the first session I will give an introduction and get some introductory information. Then we will get right to work and talk about your motivation for treatment. My goal is to understand there is no judgement here and the more open you can be the more effective your treatment can be. I have dogs and there is always one in session and available for support especially for in person visits. I find this can help to feel secure and comfortable to open up and get to the heart of the matter. I believe the things you went through formed you and believe there is much to be learned by exploring family of origins information. No one grew up in a perfect home so we will destigmatize talking about family stuff we are embarrassed or guarded about. Know from day one I believe in you and your ability to grow from where you are now.
I am gentle with clients in their most fragile times and I push when it is needed to grow. I partner with the client to work on the things they struggle with most. I use humor and caring to get through the toughest stuff. My office offers safety and security to process through anything.
I serve children adults and families. I have specialty certifications in Binge Eating Disorder, Chronic Conditions and Trauma. I also have extensive experience working with individuals who work in healthcare networks. (Doctors, Nurses, and administrators.
I believe the family system is always part of my practice. The reason I say psychodynamic is because Internal Family Systems therapy doesn't recognize the world around us. A Psycho dynamic theoretical perspective recognizes that everything that happened in life created the person presenting for treatment.
