If you're used to being the one who has it together for everyone else, but lately you've been running on empty, you don't have to keep carrying it alone! I work with adolescents, college students, young adults, and women navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing, identity shifts, and life transitions. Many of my clients are dancers, athletes, performers, helping professionals, and high-achievers who look successful on the outside while quietly struggling on the inside. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years in high-performance coaching, fitness, and behavior change. Today, I blend that background with evidence-based therapy to help clients understand themselves more deeply while building practical skills for lasting change.

Do you feel overwhelmed, depressed, anxious or have limitations in your ability to function presently? With 33 years of clinical experience, I have a significant number of skills and methods to help. Not everyone benefits fully from only one or even two therapy methods. I tailor my skills and interventions to each person depending on their needs, problems and comfort. Different therapy methods are researched as to the best outcomes based on what symptoms you are struggling with. I follow the research and start with the approaches that are well-studied and show the best results. If you are not feeling better after a few sessions, we discuss this openly and I introduce you to a different approach. I look at therapy as a combined effort with both of us working together to meet your personal goals. While I guide you, your feedback is regularly requested so you are benefiting. You will find that I am very honest, direct, non-judgmental, compassionate and genuine in my desire to help my clients.

With over 30 years of public service and a strong foundation in military and clinical care, I bring deep experience, compassion, and understanding to my work as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My journey began in the U.S. military, where I served as a medic in hospitals and clinics across the country. There, I witnessed firsthand the impact of trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges—an experience that inspired my lifelong dedication to helping others heal. Following my service, I spent over two decades in crisis intervention, responding to and supporting individuals in crisis. I am a therapist who values the courage it takes to seek help and take the first step toward working on yourself. I understand that life can become overwhelming, and that responsibilities, personal experiences, cultural background, education, or simply being in survival mode can sometimes get in the way of prioritizing your emotional well-being. Therefore, I offer a space where people can slow down, better understand the patterns behind what they feel, and learn how to navigate life with more clarity, emotional balance, and self-understanding rather than constantly feeling like they are just trying to survive through it.

Hi, I'm Ricardo. I'm a Hispanic man who's done my own work in therapy to figure out who I am and who I want to be—which is a big part of why I do this work today. I went into counseling field because I kept seeing people who felt unheard or misunderstood by the people around them, often carrying more than anyone realized. That's especially true for a lot of men and teenage boys I've worked with—individuals who feel like they're supposed to be strong, keep things to themselves, or handle things alone, but who rarely have a space to actually talk about what's underneath that. I grew up seeing some of those same pressures and unhealthy patterns around what it means to "be a man," and part of my work now is helping men and boys move away from those roles and into a healthier, more grounded version of who they are—as partners, providers, sons, and people. I especially enjoy working with teenage boys who are figuring out who they are, often at an age when it's hard to talk to the adults around them about what's really going on. I try to meet them where they are—not lecturing, not judging—so they actually want to keep showing up and talking. For parents: if your son is pulling away, shutting down, or you're just not sure how to reach him right now, that's exactly the kind of thing we can work through together. Outside of the therapy room, I'm endlessly curious—I love traveling, learning about different cultures, sports, and music (I play a bit of guitar). I think that mix of curiosity, care, and having done some of my own work is a lot of what I bring into the room with clients.

Over the course of my career, the need to address mental health disparities became apparent, as did the lack of available providers to do so. I am a licensed therapist in Florida and Connecticut specializing in supporting seniors, older adults, and medically complex patients navigating chronic illness, health changes, grief, anxiety, and major life transitions. My work centers on helping individuals who have spent a lifetime “pushing through” finally have a space where they can slow down, feel understood, and receive steady emotional support. My background includes extensive experience with chronic illness, medical trauma, caregiver stress, mobility changes, and the emotional impact of aging. I understand how health challenges affect identity, independence, relationships, and daily life. I help clients make sense of these shifts with compassion and clarity. Whether you’re adjusting to a new diagnosis, grieving a partner, managing multiple medical conditions, or feeling overwhelmed by life changes, you don’t have to navigate it alone. My approach is warm, grounding, and practical. I blend trauma informed care with real world strategies to help you reduce anxiety, manage stress, cope with grief, and regain a sense of control. I meet you exactly where you are, emotionally, physically, and medically. We move at a pace that respects your energy and capacity. I’m committed to creating a safe, supportive space where your experiences are honored and your voice matters. I’m Shellene Hattersley, LCSW, and for over 13 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping adults and veterans navigate the challenges life often throws their way. Throughout my career, I’ve seen how resilient people are, even when they don’t always feel it themselves. My specialty areas include trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions, and my approach is rooted in compassion, understanding, and a belief in your inherent strengths. I truly believe that healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all process, which is why I take the time to tailor our work together to fit your unique needs and goals. Whether you’re working through past trauma, feeling stuck in life’s transitions, or looking to gain clarity and confidence, we’ll go at your pace and build on your existing resilience. In our time together, my goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make lasting, positive changes. I’m honored to walk alongside you on your journey of healing and growth, and I’m here to help you uncover the strength and clarity needed to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I strive to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood, so you can begin to feel relief knowing your healing journey is underway. I want you to feel proud of yourself for taking the step to prioritize your mental health; it truly matters. My style is warm, patient, encouraging, and direct in a way that supports growth without feeling harsh or overwhelming. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida with a Master of Social Work (MSW), and I work with teens, young adults, couples, families, and individuals across the lifespan. My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and evidence-based strategies for anxiety and emotional well-being. In our work together, I focus on helping you better understand yourself, process what you’re going or have gone through, and build practical tools to manage anxiety, trauma, depression, and life’s daily challenges. I believe in supporting healing from a trauma-informed lens while also empowering you to recognize your own strengths and growth along the way. If you’re feeling nervous about starting therapy, I often remind clients: Life will always bring challenges, and we all need support in navigating them. Seeking help is not something to be ashamed or afraid of; it’s a meaningful sign of strength and growth. Plus, there is a world of possibilities on the other side of your fear. Outside of sessions, you’ll usually find me laughing or trying new foods; ideally both at the same time, but I’m not picky.
