LMHC, 5 years of experience
Hello, my name is Michelle, and I am happy that you are here! Life can be challenging, and some days things may seem completely overwhelming and out of control. As a person-centered counselor, I truly believe that no matter what we may go through, healing and growth is possible. I often remind my clients that they hold the power to create the life that they desire and the change they wish to see. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, self-esteem, family conflict or grief this is the space for you! I look forward to being on this journey of growth and healing with you.
During our first session, you can look forward to an inviting, calming and nonjudgmental atmosphere to discuss life challenges. Sessions are initiated with appropriate introductions to help establish rapport. We will discuss expectations of therapy and begin exploring possible treatment goals. Clients are always granted the opportunity to ask questions and express any concerns regarding the therapeutic process. Clients can expect to leave their first session feeling seen, validated and hopeful!
One of my biggest strengths that I have come to appreciate as a therapist is my ability to connect with others. Regardless of background, my clients feel seen, validated and supported. My bubbly, easy going personality tends to break the ice during sessions, allowing clients to feel safe. I strive to create a space where clients can enjoy the process as they work through life challenges. I enjoy feedback and collaborating with my clients to create goal plans specific to their individual needs.
I utilize a diverse range of evidence based therapeutic approaches consistent with the needs of my clients. My approaches include cognitive processing therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy and solution focused therapy.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most frequently used therapeutic approaches in my practice. CBT can be helpful with many diagnosis and presenting issues. I often utilize CBT to help clients challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors to produce positive outcomes.
I have 4 years of experience utilizing cognitive processing therapy with clients experiencing trauma and stress related disorders. I use CPT to help clients process traumatic experiences and identify positive coping strategies to work through trauma.
