I did my training in Colorado and have been a licensed psychologist for over 23 years. My areas of specialty include counseling and diagnostic clarification for cognitive, personality and intellectual concerns. All of my work is performed via a secure video link. We can meet via online video, text or voice sessions. I am flexible regarding session times and encourage you to contact me if there is not a convenient time listed in my schedule and we'll work something out that is perfect for you.
Our sessions may not always follow specific guidelines; in fact, I will encourage creativity, depending on context and your personality. What will always be consistent is the emphasis on our relationship as we come to trust each other and focus on the here and now. Through exercises and spontaneous experiments, our work together may allow you to connect with parts of yourself minimized, ignored, or even flat out denied. I am a person-centered therapist and use empathy, understanding, and unconditional acceptance to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
I use a solution-focused approach to solving problems of living that focus on your strengths. I use Gestalt Therapy, which is a humanistic, holistic, person-centered form of psychotherapy focused on your present life and challenges. I use creative and experiential techniques to enhance awareness and ultimately the insight needed to determine your self-direction. At the core of my therapy is the holistic view that we are intricately linked. My goal for our sessions is to facilitate an environment useful to you as we strive toward growth, balance, and success. I utilize hypnosis when clinically appropriate.
Exploration of ambivalence to change can be quite frustrating and difficult for many therapists and psychologists. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you must be ready to change if you are making an appointment, but we all know from our personal lives that is simply not true. Change is hard, the decision to make a change is even harder and doing the work to achieve your goals is the most difficult of all. We'll start where you are. Ambivalent, stuck, not ready, confused? It's all ok. We'll sort it out together.
