What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, you can expect an introduction and an overview of the therapy process. Following, I will invite you to share your reasons for seeking therapy and any specific concerns or challenges you are facing. This may involve discussing symptoms, life events, relationship issues, or other areas of distress. I will work to establish a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship with you. I will encourage you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have about the therapy process. At the end of the session, we will discuss next steps, including scheduling future sessions, the development of your treatment plan, and beginning to implement therapeutic interventions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I possess a strong capacity for empathy and compassion, allowing me to deeply understand and connect with my clients' experiences, emotions, and struggles. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize this treatment method in practice to gain an understanding of a client's presenting issues, symptoms, and goals for therapy. During the course of treatment, I assist clients with becoming aware of their automatic thoughts, challenging and reframing their cognitive distortions, encouraging engagement in new behaviors or activities, and teaching specific coping strategies and skills to manage distressing emotions and behaviors.

Trauma-Focused CBT

When utilizing trauma-focused CBT, I work to establish a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where a client feels comfortable discussing their experiences and emotions. I assist a client in constructing a trauma narrative, a detailed account of the traumatic event(s) and associated thoughts, feelings, and sensations. I help a client to identify and challenge maladaptive beliefs and cognitive distortions related to their trauma. A client is taught coping skills for managing trauma-related distress and solving problems effectively.

Motivational Interviewing

When implementing motivational interviewing techniques, I assess a client's readiness and motivation to change. I explore a client's goals, values, strengths, and areas of concern. I utilize active listening and empathy to understand a client's perspective without judgment. I affirm a client's strengths, resources, and past successes to bolster their confidence in their ability to change. The goal is to effectively support a client in clarifying their goals, resolving ambivalence, and making meaningful changes aligned with their values and aspirations.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize this treatment method in practice to empower clients to identify and implement effective solutions to their challenges, leading to positive change and improved well-being. SFBT emphasizes a client's strengths, resilience, and capacity for change, fostering a sense of hope and agency in the therapeutic process. Exploration, collaboration, and goal setting are primarily utilized in helping to build on a client's strengths and move them closer to their desired outcomes.
