Hi, I'm Liza Melgar, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over five years of experience supporting teens, adults, and older adults through a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges. My approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and rooted in evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT. I create a space that’s both nurturing and direct where you can feel safe to explore your experiences, build healthy coping skills, and reconnect with your inner strength. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed, I’ll work collaboratively with you to identify what’s working, what’s not, and how to move toward a more grounded and fulfilling version of yourself. Therapy with me is about more than just talking, it's about healing, growing, and building a life that aligns with who you are and where you want to be. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I'm here to walk beside you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, judgment free space where we begin getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions to better understand what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any concerns or goals you’d like to explore. You don’t need to have all the answers, I’ll guide the conversation and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We will also talk through what therapy can look like with me, what you can expect from our work together, and begin identifying some areas to focus on. My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, supported, and a little more hopeful about the path ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a clinician is my ability to hold space in a way that feels both supportive and real. Clients often tell me they feel safe being themselves with me, even when they’re sharing things they’ve never said out loud before. I’m fully present, I listen deeply, and I show up with both empathy and honesty while gently challenging when needed, but always with care. What makes me unique is how I blend intuition, compassion, and real connection. With over six years of experience working with teens, adults, and older adults, I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone finally feels heard and understood. I don’t just believe in growth, I walk with you as you create it.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I connect deeply with people who are ready to work through the things that keep them feeling stuck whether it’s anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or just trying to feel more in control of their emotions. Many of the individuals I work with have spent so much time being strong for others that they’ve forgotten how to be gentle with themselves. If that sounds like you, you’re not alone and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself anymore. I offer a space where you can slow down, feel seen, and begin making sense of what you’re going through. Together, we’ll work toward healing, clarity, and real growth so you can move forward feeling lighter, stronger, and more connected to who you are.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I believe therapy should feel both supportive and empowering. I use an eclectic approach rooted in evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, but I don’t believe in a one size fits all model. Every person brings a different story, and I take the time to truly listen so we can shape the process together. My style is collaborative, honest, and growth oriented. Whether we're working through past wounds, navigating life transitions, or building healthier patterns, I’ll meet you where you are while also gently challenging you to step into where you want to be. Therapy with me is a space where your voice matters, your strengths are honored, and your goals guide the work we do.
