(She)
Hi, I’m Liza Melgar, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over five years of experience helping teens, adults, and older adults navigate anxiety, trauma, depression, and life transitions. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and empowered to make real change. Using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT, I’ll help you build practical coping skills while uncovering the deeper patterns holding you back. In our sessions, you can expect a space that’s supportive yet honest where you can explore, heal, and reconnect with your inner strength at your own pace. My goal is to help you not only feel better but also create lasting change that aligns with who you are and how you want to live. If you’re ready to start healing, growing, and moving toward a more grounded version of yourself, I’d be honored to walk beside you on that journey.
In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space where we start getting to know each other. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand what brought you to therapy, what you’d like to work on, and any goals or concerns you’d like to explore. You don’t need to have everything figured out. I’ll guide the conversation and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We’ll also talk about what therapy with me looks like, what you can expect from our work together, and begin identifying a few focus areas. My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, supported, and a little more hopeful about the path ahead.
One of my greatest strengths as a clinician is my ability to hold space in a way that feels both supportive and real. Clients often share that they feel safe being fully themselves with me, even when they’re opening up about things they’ve never said out loud before. I’m fully present, I listen deeply, and I show up with empathy and honesty, gently challenging when needed, but always with care. What makes my approach unique is how I blend intuition, compassion, and genuine connection. With over five years of experience working with teens, adults, and older adults, I’ve seen how transformative it can be when someone truly feels heard and understood. I don’t just believe in growth, I walk alongside you as you create it.
I connect deeply with people who are ready to work through what’s keeping them feeling stuck, whether it’s anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, or the desire to feel more in control of their emotions. Many of the individuals I work with have spent so much time being strong for others that they’ve forgotten how to be gentle with themselves. If that sounds like you, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself anymore. I offer a space where you can slow down, feel seen, and begin making sense of what you’re going through. Together, we’ll work toward healing, clarity, and meaningful growth so you can move forward feeling lighter, stronger, and more connected to who you are.

Eclectic
I believe therapy should feel both supportive and empowering. I use an eclectic approach rooted in evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, but I don’t believe in a one size fits all model. Every person brings a different story, and I take the time to truly listen so we can shape the process together. My style is collaborative, honest, and growth oriented. Whether we're working through past wounds, navigating life transitions, or building healthier patterns, I’ll meet you where you are while also gently challenging you to step into where you want to be. Therapy with me is a space where your voice matters, your strengths are honored, and your goals guide the work we do.
