New to Grow
Hello, I'm Ricardo, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and clarity. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where you feel heard, supported, and challenged to grow. My approach is warm, honest, and goal oriented. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, or a major life transition, we'll work together to better understand what's keeping you stuck while developing practical strategies to help you move forward. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. My goal is not only to help you feel better but also to help you build the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to create lasting change.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your personal history, current concerns, and what you hope to accomplish through counseling. I understand that beginning therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal is to create a comfortable and supportive environment where you feel heard without judgment. Together, we'll identify your goals and begin developing a treatment plan that fits your unique needs. You don't need to have everything figured out before our first meeting—we'll take it one step at a time.
Clients often describe me as approachable, genuine, and easy to talk to. While I provide empathy and support, I also believe meaningful growth requires action. I work collaboratively with my clients, helping them recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and build the confidence to make lasting changes. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to better understand themselves and improve their relationships, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. My approach balances compassion with accountability, encouraging clients to move beyond insight and begin creating meaningful change both inside and outside of therapy.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize how their thoughts affect their emotions and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be keeping them stuck, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. My goal is to help clients build practical skills they can use outside of therapy to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and feel more confident in their daily lives.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients stop struggling against difficult thoughts and emotions and instead learn how to respond to them in healthier ways. Together, we focus on accepting what cannot be controlled while taking meaningful action toward the life they want to build. This approach helps clients become more resilient and stay connected to their values, even during stressful times.
Adlerian
I use Adlerian therapy to help clients better understand how their life experiences, relationships, and beliefs have shaped the way they see themselves and the world. Together, we explore patterns that may no longer be serving them while identifying personal strengths, building self-confidence, and creating a greater sense of purpose. My goal is to help clients feel empowered to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe that every person deserves a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to be heard. My role is to help clients better understand themselves, process difficult emotions, and discover their own strengths. I work collaboratively with clients, helping them build confidence, gain insight, and move toward the life they want to create.
