You are here hoping to find that therapist who stands out to you because you want to find someone who can help you. The search can be overwhelming for some. Most of the profiles of therapists are going to say similar things. Most of which should be standard like brakes on a car. I cannot promise I'm the right one for you. Here is what I can tell you about my approach. I believe in being practical which means I will not use a lot of psycho-babble or fancy strategies. I have a tendency to be blunt. My wife says I'm the "bluntest politest man" she has ever met. I'm going to be real with you. I love couples/marriage counseling, and that is my main focus. However, about half of my clients have always been individuals. Some people just need a place to vent. Others need help solving a problem, and most people need a little of both. I know therapy might be a little intimidating or even scary to some. Try to think of it as a massage for your brain. It's a place where you can say whatever you want guilt-free.

I am first of all a very empathic human been. In a therapeutic session you will find an empathic listener, who is on your side, to help you make changes, process situations, externalize feelings and see situations with a different lense. With twenty years of experience working with clients I have been exposed to many different life situations, and will do my best to help you in the transition.

Client’s often say, “You wouldn’t understand” to therapists, and although I am fully aware that no one can FULLY understand another person’s story, I believe something that makes me unique as a therapist is that I am very familiar with struggle. I come from a large family, of which I am the eldest, and I took on a nurturing role very naturally and very young. I made my fair share of mistakes and landed myself in places I never thought I’d be, including domestic violence. As a result, I fought hard for my degrees, and my journey to licensure took longer than I wanted. However, today I am grateful, because I have learned a lot through my experiences. I have learned how to take pride in my entrepreneurship as a black woman, how to be a strong single mother, and ultimately, how to thrive under pressure. I am also very passionate about helping women heal through trauma, particularly domestic violence. Many people cannot comprehend that torment, and that makes healing even more difficult.
