Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida. I obtained my Masters Degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY in 1998. I enjoy assisting others in redesigning their lives. My focus is on individual and couples counseling. Helping to bring positive changes to my client's lives is something I am motivated by, thankful for and excited to witness.
In our first session, after introductions, I ask for a brief history of what has led you to seek help. Getting to know how you think, feel and see the world, is an important piece of knowing what will best work to support the desired change in your life. I then formulate a plan with you that addresses your concerns and creates opportunities for you to put identified skills into practice to create change.
In my years of practice I have developed a keen sense of what needs highlighting from what needs editing in a situation or relationship. I listen carefully and utilize the gift of insight to craft discerning questions for my clients to consider. The data gleaned from our insightful conversations are then utilized to creatively design a new way of seeing and doing things in order to achieve one's desired goals.
Overall, I utilize a variety of techniques but find that CBT is used quite often in my work. I cater the experience with CBT based on whether one is suffering from anxiety, partnership dissatisfaction or depression. Learning to recognize how your thoughts are influencing your feelings and behaviors is crucial to being able to manage and direct the way you want your life to go. Your thoughts are like a non-stop film in which you decide where each clip stops to focus on. Taking control of. your thought life is similar to a director deciding which scenes to cut and which need re-takes or further development.
