People often ask me why I became a therapist. Helping people in short is why, but it does not quite grasp the process that happens. The more time I spend in this field, the simpler the answer gets, having someone’s trust in you to get to the root of someone’s struggle to make a longstanding impact on individuals. Although evidence-based practices are necessary and important, my main priority in the room is the client-therapist relationship. I am a big believer that the most important part of therapy is the relationship. As an attachment-focused therapist, a secure therapeutic relationship brings safety, trust, and growth. For the last 6 years, I worked for a mental health program that focused heavily on the mind-body connection. I value the importance of approaching clients, addressing both the mind and the body to treat the whole person.

Hemet, CA - Accepting clients in CA

Congratulations for taking the step to seek counseling. The world we live in is increasingly complex, and we can find ourselves feeling disconnected, stressed, and uncertain about what direction to take. How do we identify solutions for our life’s challenges? How do we let go of stress and sleep at night? As a therapist, I have counseled with individuals and families for over ten years and have found that problem-solving does not have to be stressful, and that we can work through our toughest issues. It is common to believe that people in our relationships, or circumstances in our lives cause us to feel the way we do. But it is our thinking, and the way we relate to people and circumstances, that create our feelings and emotions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us observe what we are feeling and identify the thoughts that create our feelings. With increased self-awareness, we determine which of our thoughts and perceptions are distorted and unhelpful. As our thinking becomes more realistic, we feel better. There are several therapy methods that are effective in creating positive change, including Narrative Therapy, Goal Setting, Visioning for Personal Growth, and Mindfulness to promote focus and attention. Let’s engage in a conversation to explore your individual needs, and how best to meet them.

Corona, CA - Accepting clients in CA

With over 25 years of experience working with people from all walks of life, I offer guidance to those feeling stuck, hopeless, or helpless. If you feel as if no matter how hard you try, your mind continues to bombard you with negative feedback, I can help you. Through a methodical approach to thought identification, you can learn to pinpoint the thoughts that trigger negative emotions and keep you trapped in a cycle of despair. My goal is to empower you to reclaim control over your mental state and find meaning in your life. Together, we will work towards a brighter and more fulfilling future. I can also teach you how to live a meaningful life based on your values and goals. If you are suffering from PTSD, I can help by providing you with the tools needed to challenge the thoughts that you may have developed as a result of your trauma. If your relationship is suffering due to PTSD symptoms, I can help you develop healthy coping mechanisms that can improve your relationship. I began my career working with undocumented single mothers in need of financial skills to support their families. From there I worked with the undocumented population helping them secure resources for their basic needs and empowering them to become self-sufficient. I also worked with the LGBTQIA+ community in three different roles: providing psychoeducation to newly HIV diagnosed individuals and their families, as a case manager providing resources for newly HIV diagnosed undocumented citizens, and finally, as a clinician providing individual therapy for those with depression, anxiety, or PTSD. Later in my career, I worked with the Forensic Juvenile Department providing in-home family therapy to families involved in the criminal justice system. I have also worked with individuals suffering from personality disorders. Currently, I provide individual and group therapy.

Welcome to my practice. I am a seasoned therapist and have worked in many different settings over many years. All I ever wanted to do is help people have their best lives. I practiced social work with a Bachelors degree in prisons, community agencies for the disabled, a state hospital, a state facility for people with cognitive challenges, child and family welfare work and working with folks in community care homes. I also developed and led a community program for Guardians ad Litem in child abuse and neglect cases. Then I went back to school and earned my Masters in Social Work and then my therapy credentials after many hours of supervision. I truly enjoy listening and encouraging clients to embrace strategies for wellness and self-compassion using mindfulness and compassion and strength based materials. I am actively engaged in consult groups with other therapists focusing on trans and queer issues. For several years I taught at the graduate school level in South Carolina and then Utah, teaching social work students skills for working ethically and compassionately.

Choosing a therapist can be challenging and confusing and one might ask, what does therapy involve? From my experience Therapy involves developing a very special relationship between a professionally licensed practitioner called a therapist and one or more people seeking to collaboratively define and achieve constructive change. This relationship is referred to as the therapeutic bond and is considered one of the most important parts of successful therapy. As such our first step in therapy is, from day one, to form that bond by establishing a trusting, non-shaming environment where any child, adolescent, person, couple, or family will feel safe and sense the therapist is on their side, listens and understands. Therapy on my behalf will involve empathy, genuineness, and mindful acceptance while we collaboratively establish therapeutic changes / goals you feel are both desired and are ready to achieve. Our sessions will involve the language of change as perceived by you the client(s), and constructive finding of solutions. You will be able to present your story without fear of rejection or shame. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and am very effective with middle schoolers, adolescents young adults, and people working in the stressful world of business, hi tech and active military service members, and veterans. During my time as a therapist I have built a reputation as caring, effective and someone who has my client’s best interests at heart. If you feel a connection or that contacting me could be of value, I would be very happy to hear from you. Until such time I wish you the very best in your quest. Sincerely, Mike Michael Durrigan Ca. If you’re looking for a therapist who will actually listen—who won’t dismiss your concerns or pathologize your pain—you’re in the right place. Maybe you're wondering if you have ADHD, autism, or anxiety. Maybe you've been masking for years and don’t know where to start. Maybe you're carrying trauma, grief, or a deep sense that something has always felt a little off. I work with people who’ve spent too long feeling misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or minimized—and are ready for something different. You don’t need a perfect narrative. You don’t need to show up polished. You don’t even need to be sure what you need yet. With over 10 years of experience, I specialize in working with neurodivergent and emotionally complex clients—including first responders, trauma survivors, and members of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I have a Master’s in Clinical Counseling, a Master’s in Forensic Psychology, and I’m currently completing a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology. I combine clinical insight with curiosity, humor, and a belief in your capacity to grow—even if it’s messy.

Have you been feeling stuck? Having difficulty connecting in your relationships? Or have been wanting to explore underlying core beliefs or unresolved trauma that have been impacting your relationships with friends, family, and/or even the relationship with yourself? The journey to unpacking and challenging those core beliefs is a gift to yourself. My experience includes working with BIPOC individuals, individuals who have been diagnosed with ADHD* by a psychologist/psychiatrist, and women who struggle with depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. But most importantly, working alongside individuals who are struggling returning to their baseline. Taking the time to look for a therapist that best fits your current needs is important. If you are reading this and it aligns with your emotional and mental needs I would love to join you on this journey towards healing. These weekly or biweekly sessions are dedicated for you and only you. I am looking forward to beginning this journey with you. *DISCLAIMER: Under my license, it is out scope to diagnose a person with ADHD. However, I have experience in working with individuals who are having difficulties with managing attention/impulse/hyperactive behaviors. A formal ADHD diagnoses requires an extensive evaluation from a trained psychologist or psychiatrist.

I have over 20 years of counseling experience working with diverse individuals from young children to seniors. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, transitions, self destructive behaviors, codependency among others, so that you can overcome the blocks that keep you from living the life you deserve. I use an integrated and collaborative approach created to meet the unique needs of each individual while establishing a safe environment conducive to achieving goals, and moving forward. I believe that true change happens when people are given the support they need in order to draw upon their own strengths to realize their full potential. I am very passionate about the work I do, compassionate, and believe that with dedication and commitment, you can live the fulfilling life you know is awaiting you. A few comments former clients have said about me and our work together include; “I’ve worked with a number of therapists before, but you are the only one that I felt truly cared.” “I can't believe that after 8 years of depression and PTSD, I actually feel great after only 6 months! If you would have asked me if this were possible a couple years ago, I would have said absolutely not!” I have worked with both short-term and long-term interventions and in diverse settings. My goal is your goal and together, you can achieve what you may have thought, or think, is unachievable. It is possible to not only overcome obstacles, but thrive and live a happy life.
