My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I utilize a trauma focused cognitive behavioal therapy approach, which is a therapeutic intervention designed to help individuals overcome the impact of traumatic events that are negatively impacting their daily lives. Examples of trauma include sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, community violence and unexpected death, natural disasters or war. Reactions to trauma include intrusive thoughts, emotional and physical numbing, recalling sensations that occurred during trauma, disturbed sleep, rapid changes in mood, difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, inability to trust, drug use and desire to hurt oneself.

Attachment-based

I take an integrated, holistic approach to care. The therapeutic relationship is one in which optimum healing is a result of the reciprocal bond between the therapist and client. I understand that to open to the experience of change and improvement in their life one must feel safe. This is the therapy space that I provide in order to help shape an authentic and loving environment. I will provide nurturance, guidance, affirmation and compassionate reflection in order to help you heal. In addition to talk therapy and attachment-based approaches I will challenge my clients with multiple creative approaches such as reading, journaling, art therapy, and other self-discovery projects.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have a compassionate Mindfulness based practice and offer creative solution-focused approaches to help reduce your anxiety, depression, and relational conflict. Improving mindfulness will increase self-awareness, help with coping with symptoms, reduce stress and enhance cognitive abilities which will allow you to enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of life.

Couples Counseling

I have studied the work of John Gottman who states "creating a sustainable and happy relationship revolves around one crucial factor: friendship. Maintain mutual respect and enjoyment in each other's company is the goal for most couples. Successful couples do approach life as a team, developing their gifts in a complementary way, are accountable to each other, know how to resolve conflict, cultivate health lifestyles, and have great sex while enjoying lifelong friends and companions.
