Maple Moriji was born on December 29, 1970 in Tokyo, Japan, an only child of a Japanese father and Danish mother. Instead of enrolling at a Japanese school, he attended a private international school called the American School in Japan (ASIJ). At ASIJ, he befriended other third culture children of different nationalities from across the globe. In 1989, he graduated from ASIJ and moved to Washington, DC where he enrolled at George Washington University. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1994 after which he began his career in information technology. He eventually relocated to Los Angeles in 1998 and subsequently became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2004. After having worked in the corporate world for over 13 years, he was prompted by his lifelong interest in human psychology to become a Marriage and Family Therapist and enrolled at Antioch University in 2009. Over the years, he explored the subject extensively, attended a conference for Victims Of Incest Can Emerge Survivors (VOICES) in Action, and studied depth psychology at C.G. Jung Club of Orange County. Starting in October 2010, he began seeing clients regularly for psychotherapy at inpatient and outpatient facilities including The Center in Long Beach, Tarzana Treatment Centers, Solid Landings Behavioral Health, Hope by the Sea, Personal Involvement Center, Oceanfront Recovery and BLVD Treatment Centers. In private practice, he has been treating clients using a number of different approaches including EMDR since November 2012. In December 2011, he received a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. His calling is to specialize in treating clients who have struggled with issues related to cultural diversity and who have suffered from trauma while growing up (such as childhood sexual abuse). As of March 2017, he has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

If you are a client of Kaiser Permanente, it is necessary to obtain a referral from Kaiser before proceeding. Once you have received the referral, Kaiser will provide you with a link to schedule a session with me. I specialize in helping individuals as they navigate grief, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, and behavioral concerns. I understand that these struggles are not just diagnoses—they are lived experiences that can quietly shape how you see yourself, how you connect with others, and how you move through your day. Anxiety can feel like a constant hum in the background—keeping you on edge, overthinking, and emotionally worn down. Many people carry it for years without realizing how much it’s impacting their relationships and sense of peace. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to keep managing it by yourself. Depression is often misunderstood because it doesn’t always look like sadness. Sometimes it feels like exhaustion, numbness, irritability, or simply going through the motions without feeling connected to your life. It can make even the smallest tasks feel heavy. But depression is treatable, and with the right support, it is possible to feel like yourself again. In our work together, I offer a space where you can be seen, heard, and understood—without judgment. My goal is not only to help you cope, but to help you reconnect with yourself, find clarity in what you’re feeling, and build a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and yours.

I help people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental disorders. I help them further develop their mindfulness, assertive communication skills, and capacity for love & respect for themselves, and, consequently, the rest of the world. I don't merely believe in therapy, I know first-hand the beneficial power it can provide. Before seeking mental health services for myself, I not only suffered from low self-esteem, I also experienced severe panic attacks. I am, and forever will be, grateful each and every day that those symptoms now only exist in my past. These are just a few of the reasons why mental health is by far my greatest passion in life.

Hello, I am Kathleen. Do you feel overwhelmed, burnt out or pulled in a million different directions? Are you struggling with your relationships, work or health? Is it difficult for you to find time for yourself, let alone, be kind to yourself? Do you feel "stuck" and unable to move forward? Many of us are experiencing loneliness, depression, anxiety and social isolation, so it is important to make caring for yourself a priority. Therapy can help you feel more connected, balanced and peaceful. Together, we can help identify what is not working and regain a sense of balance. We'll use a holistic approach, addressing the needs of your body, mind and spirit. We will develop a "toolbox" of coping skills and create new insights and awarenesses to help you become a happier and healthier version of yourself. Seeking therapy can feel threatening but it's one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and by doing so also give to others. In our sessions, I will meet you with kindness, compassion, humor and evidence-based modalities, so you can overcome obstacles and habits that may be holding you back. My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, supportive and empathic environment in which to work through current issues, conflicting relationships and/or past pain. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Hi There! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and primarily work with folx who struggle with addiction and mental health. I have experience providing individual and group treatment for folx who are interested in abstinence/sobriety and harm reduction. I have worked in this field for approximately seven years and have found this work truly fulfilling. I believe self-compassion is an important and often overlooked skill/tool, and I focus on using this in my sessions. I work from a perspective of cultural humility and enjoy meeting with folx who are BIPOC and/or part of the Lgbtq+ community. I also believe in the importance of fat acceptance and body positivity, which is something that is often neglected/overlooked. I am also the mother of an adult with Autism/neurodivergence and have experience personally and professionally with caregiving and burnout. *Please note that clients may be referred out if there are more than two no-shows. Many people come to therapy feeling exhausted—not because they're weak, but because they've spent years taking care of everyone else while losing touch with themselves. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship challenges, family stress, or repeating the same painful patterns, therapy can help you understand not only what is happening, but why it keeps happening. With more than 20 years of experience, I help adults gain clarity, recognize the patterns influencing their lives, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I believe insight is important, but lasting change happens when insight is paired with meaningful action. Together, we'll explore your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment, identify what's keeping you stuck, and develop skills that help you move forward with greater confidence, stronger boundaries, and relationships that feel more authentic and fulfilling.

I have been in the psychology field for over 20 years now. I love what I do and helping every client become successful. The relationship between the client(s) and myself is important in achieving the goals we set together. How our past experiences have influenced our current lives is a key issue. I feel that support systems in our daily lives are important to examine. The issues of separation, loss, freedom, dependence and independence are crucial to examine as one leaves home and parental influences. I work with individuals, couples, teens and families. Every session is different because every client is different, as are their problems. I'll encourage you to talk and explore, in a structured way, your feelings and experiences. Whatever the technique or clinical approach, psychotherapy is not a magical cure, it is a process to help you find the capacity for improvement within yourself. Psychotherapy aims to help you gain insight into your difficulties or distress and enable you to find more appropriate ways of coping or bring about changes in your thinking and behavior. Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and events, sometimes from childhood, in a structured way to help you do it safely. I have a website that has 16 courses on it for you to do self paced sessions. I also have book I wrote on that website. Exhausted by the way you think about yourself? We are often (if not always) our own worst enemies. Whether this pattern has caused you problems with guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, addiction or you name it - the starting point is generally the same. When we embark on the project of therapy you will be asked to put your painful thoughts and feelings into words. As the process unfolds, the strength and fervor used to overthink and condemn yourself will become accessible to use productively in reaching your goals.

I am also a certified yoga teacher with training in trauma-informed yoga, and I weave somatic awareness into my clinical work, honoring the deep connection between mind, body, and healing. Above all, I believe that people are capable of profound growth and change. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel safe enough to be fully themselves, and I am deeply committed to creating that space for every person I work with. It is an honor to walk alongside clients in that process, and I bring my whole self to that work every single day.

I found myself becoming a psychotherapist through nudges from friends and family pointing me toward a field they believed suited me well. I'm so grateful I listened and changed careers from education to psychology; 10 years later, I'm writing this with great satisfaction about my profession. The work of joining a person in articulating, understanding, and organizing their experience is a wonderful thing. This work makes sense to me; I both enjoy serving others and the psychic rewards of their growth and success. I've worked in various settings, including CBT, college counseling, and psychodynamic clinics, as well as addiction medicine, behavioral health primary care, and medical integration with Kaiser Permanente. All of these contexts have combined to bring my clinical style together in an integrative-relational approach to treatment.

I am a bilingual therapist (English & Spanish) that believes therapy should be a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. Reaching out for help takes courage, and you do not have to face life’s challenges alone. I support adults and older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, panic attacks, burnout, chronic stress, grief, chronic pain, and difficult life transitions. I also work with individuals navigating divorce, relationship and marital concerns, family conflict, women’s and men’s issues, caregiving responsibilities, retirement, and adjustments related to medical conditions or changes in health. Many clients seek therapy when they feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward. I provide support in exploring the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be impacting your relationships, work, and overall quality of life. Together, we will identify your strengths, develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and create practical solutions to help you regain balance and confidence. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and personalized to your unique needs and goals. I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based counseling to help you better understand yourself, manage symptoms, and create meaningful change. Therapy is tailored to your individual experiences, values, and personal journey. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges while building resilience, improving relationships, and developing the skills needed to create a more fulfilling life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, emotional burnout, relationship difficulties, chronic stress, chronic pain, or adjusting to a major life transition, I am here to support you in taking the next steps toward healing and growth. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you work toward greater emotional wellness and a renewed sense of hope.

As a therapist, I empower individuals to draw upon their strengths, heal holistically, and self-love. I will encourage and provide a safe space for you to explore, heal, and have the courage to move forward on a journey toward self-discovery, growth, confident, and love. We are all faced with challenges. These challenges can create limitations that interfere with gaining a sense of self, forming healthy relationships, and pursuing our goals. I believe we should not allow these obstacles to dictate how we respond to the environment around us. Learning healthy coping skills, challenging negative self talk, and setting effective boundaries can facilitate desired outcomes in our daily life. Given the opportunity, I would enjoy working with you right where you are. Let’s get to work!
