Hi, I am Anita Valdez, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. If you are experiencing challenges with anxiety, mood, relationship issues, life transitions, stress, or self-esteem issues, you are in the right place. I can help. I have over 19 years of experience as a therapist. My therapeutic approach integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment theory and Humanistic therapies.
Strengths
I provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment that allows my clients to process feelings and express themselves freely. My approach is compassionate and purposeful, focusing on encouraging my clients to step out of their comfort zones to foster growth and empower them to better face life’s challenges.
Origin story
I grew up as the fourth of eight children, and I often found myself experiencing the world a little differently than my siblings. I was naturally sensitive, observant, and attentive to the small changes in people’s emotions and experiences. Even as a young child, I felt deeply for others. I remember crying in kindergarten because I empathized with the children who were having a difficult time separating from their parents. Looking back, I can see that my sensitivity and desire to help others were present long before I understood what they might mean for my future. For a while, I thought I would become a teacher, and I did spend some time in that role. But when I took my first counseling course in college, I discovered something that felt different. I knew I wanted to become a therapist. I felt drawn to the opportunity to understand people more deeply, walk alongside them through life’s challenges, and help them feel seen, supported, and understood.
