Daisy Vergara
Hi, I'm Daisy 🌿 I'm honored to be part of your journey. I'm a bilingual (Tagalog and Visayan) Filipino American Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 10 years of experience in California, working with individuals and families from cultures all over the world. Life sometimes brings pain and adversity that feel too heavy to carry alone. You don't have to. 🪷 I came to the United States with a dream of making a positive difference, and my own experience as an immigrant shapes the way I work. That journey gave me deep compassion for the challenges immigrants, refugees, and their families face, and a strong belief in the resilience they carry. I named my practice Liwanag Healing because liwanag means "light" in Filipino. My hope is to walk alongside you as you heal, grow, and rediscover the light within you and your story.
First session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Our first session is about helping you feel safe, welcomed, and understood. You don't have to share anything you're not ready to share, and there are no right or wrong answers. We'll start by going over how therapy works, including confidentiality and its limits, so you know exactly what to expect. Then I'll invite you to share what brought you here, at your own pace. I'll be curious about the whole you: your story, your family and cultural background, your faith or spiritual practices if they matter to you, and the strengths that have carried you this far. If you've been through trauma, you stay in charge of how much you share and when. Together we'll begin to name what you'd like to change and what healing might look like for you. I'll explain how I work, answer any questions, and we'll talk about next steps. Most of all, you'll leave with a sense of whether we're a good fit, and hopefully with a bit more hope and a little more light for the journey ahead.
Strengths
I bring both lived experience and deep clinical expertise. As a bilingual Filipino American immigrant, I understand from the inside what it means to navigate two cultures, and I'm able to support clients in Tagalog and Visayan as well as English. I've had the privilege of serving refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of war and torture from Cambodia, Vietnam, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Iran, and many other countries. That work has taught me to listen carefully, to honor each person's culture and story, and to never underestimate the resilience of the human spirit. My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic. I see you as a whole person. I'm also deeply committed to continuous learning and growth. I train other providers in culturally responsive, trauma-informed care, and I bring that same commitment into every session. My hope is that our work together helps you find more balance, growth, and light in your own life.
Ideal clients
You may be carrying more than your own story: the weight of migration, displacement, or trauma passed down through generations. I work with refugees, immigrants, children of immigrants, and Filipino and Asian American individuals and families who want to heal old wounds, break painful cycles, and reconnect with the strength of their roots. You've already survived so much. Now you're ready to find light for the journey ahead.
