Wendy Ortiz-Rodriguez
Hello and welcome! I’m glad you’re here. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel vulnerable, and I want you to know that you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I’m a warm, client-centered therapist who believes that trust, connection, and feeling truly heard are the foundation of meaningful therapeutic work. I strive to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can show up as your authentic self. I’m an active listener who leads with compassion and understanding while also offering honest, direct guidance when needed.
As a Latina and lifelong Bay Area resident, I value each person’s unique experiences and cultural background. I take a compassionate, individualized approach to help you navigate challenges, build on your strengths, and grow at your own pace.
I enjoy working with young adults and parents navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and life’s many transitions. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness, always tailored to your unique needs and goals. As a Latina and lifelong Bay Area resident, my cultural values shape my appreciation for diverse experiences, family dynamics, and the many factors that influence who we are. My experience supporting families in school settings has strengthened my belief in meeting people where they are, with patience, empathy, and an open mind. Outside of therapy, I enjoy living near the Bay Area’s beautiful beaches. I look forward to getting to know your story, helping you recognize your strengths, and working alongside you as you build confidence, navigate challenges, and create a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned with who you are.
First session
Clients will leave their first session feeling heard, understood, and welcomed into a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can show up authentically without fear of being judged. Our first session will focus on building rapport, understanding their concerns, exploring what has brought them to therapy, and identifying their goals for treatment. I want clients to feel that they do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy.
Strengths
I bring a balance of warmth, compassion, and honesty to my sessions. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, heard, and comfortable being themselves, while also offering direct and thoughtful feedback when needed. I encourage open communication and welcome clients to share their thoughts, feelings, and even disagreements with me. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and your perspective is just as important as mine. My goal is to support you with kindness, help you explore new perspectives, and encourage growth while honoring your experiences, boundaries, and individuality.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are young adults and parents who may be navigating life transitions, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or difficulties with emotional regulation. I am particularly interested in supporting young adults as they develop their sense of identity, build confidence, establish healthy boundaries, and navigate the challenges of adulthood. I also enjoy working with parents who may feel overwhelmed by the demands of parenting, are seeking to better understand their children’s needs, or want to strengthen their parenting approach and family relationships. My ideal clients are individuals who want to better understand themselves, recognize patterns that may be holding them back, and develop practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin, but are open to self-reflection and growth. I value creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives and relationships.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help you explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, or other challenges and develop practical tools to manage difficult emotions, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and feel more confident in your daily life.
Attachment-based
I help you explore how early relationships and life experiences may influence the way you connect with others, build trust, and navigate relationships today. Together, we work toward developing a stronger sense of safety, understanding your emotional needs, and building healthier, more secure connections with yourself and others.
Integrative
I take an integrative approach to therapy, which means I tailor our work to your unique needs, experiences, and goals. I draw from different therapeutic approaches to help you better understand your emotions, navigate challenges, build coping skills, and create meaningful change. My goal is to meet you where you are and find what works best for you.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted. I believe you are the expert on your own experiences, and I work alongside you to explore your feelings, build self-awareness, and move toward meaningful growth at your own pace.
