Rami Anabtawi
I work with adults who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping them stuck. My style is direct, curious, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I take a holistic, culturally aware approach and believe therapy should lead not only to greater insight, but to meaningful change in everyday life. I value honesty, self-reflection, and creating a space where clients can explore difficult things without feeling judged.
First session
Our first session is primarily about getting to know you—what brought you in, what has been happening in your life, and what you hope might change. I’ll ask questions and help us begin connecting some of the dots, but there’s no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need. We’ll start figuring that out together and develop a direction for our work that feels useful to you.
Strengths
I’m naturally curious and tend to look beneath the surface rather than focusing only on symptoms or immediate problems. I’m comfortable being direct and challenging clients when I think it can be helpful, while remaining respectful and nonjudgmental. I also try to see the whole person—their relationships, culture, history, environment, strengths, and experiences—rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis or problem.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who wants to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that may be affecting their life. They may be dealing with relationship or family conflict, life transitions, emotional distress, or simply feeling stuck. They are open to reflection, honest conversation, and being challenged when it is helpful, with the goal of creating meaningful and lasting change.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients notice how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, challenge unhelpful ways of thinking, and develop more effective ways of responding to difficult situations. I use these tools flexibly rather than following a rigid formula.
