I firmly believe that every interaction we have in life has an impact on all parties involved, regardless of how insignificant the encounter may seem. Even if the client and I agree or disagree about us being a good fit, we are both changed. We might not notice the change at first, but it's there. I try to bring my 100% to every session, and I hope my clients do the same with the understanding that our 100% changes every day due to life situations. I do share personal experiences with clients if it is appropriate to do so and I feel it would benefit the client. I am a mom of three young children and a wife, so I understand how life can get busy and overwhelming at times. I love to call these times our Life's Storms. We are just getting through the day(s) even if it just barely. By clients choosing to try to continue on even at the hardest points in the Life's Storms, they are braving Life's Storms. This doesn't mean that there aren't times when clients will have thoughts of wanting to just pause life, or run away and start over because that is normal, and coming to counseling to seek help is brave and hard in and of itself.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or past experiences that still affect you today, you don’t have to carry it alone. I work with BIPOC adults ages 18 to 65 who are navigating trauma, self-doubt, and the pressure to always be strong for others. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, respected, and supported. My work is grounded in cultural awareness, compassion, and honesty. I use approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed care, but I focus less on labels and more on what actually helps you feel better in your daily life. Together, we look at patterns that feel stuck and gently challenge the beliefs or experiences that may be holding you back. I take a collaborative and active approach to therapy. That means we work as a team. I will support you at a pace that feels safe, while also encouraging insight, practical tools, and meaningful change that lasts beyond our sessions.

I try to create a collaborative relationship between myself and the client. I have the belief that our thoughts are directly connected to how we feel. By working with clients to solve present-day problems it helps the client approach a stronger and healthier sense of self by focusing on the actual lived experience of a person. By helping clients gradually face and come to realize that their assumptions, evaluations and beliefs might be unhealthy and unrealistic. Having the client be aware even after they have learned to recognize when and where their mental processes have gone wrong, it can in some cases take considerable time or effort to replace a dysfunctional process or habit with a more reasonable and adaptive one.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker, Veteran, and the founder of Beacon Behavioral Therapy, PLLC, where I provide therapy for adults and students navigating life transitions, work-related or academic stress, burnout, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. I also specialize in supporting individuals in high-stress roles such as military, law enforcement, first responders, caregivers, and healthcare and helping professionals. As a Veteran myself, I understand what it is like to work in mission focused environments My approach is collaborative and practical, drawing from CBT, EMDR, and trauma-informed care to help clients better understand what they’re experiencing, build effective coping skills, and make meaningful, sustainable changes in their daily lives. I focus on creating a supportive space where clients can slow down, gain clarity, and work at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in military and government environments, which informs my understanding of high-pressure systems and the challenges faced by professionals in demanding roles I understand what it’s like to work in mission-focused environments where you’re expected to keep going and perform under pressure, even when things are difficult. That perspective informs my work with clients who are used to carrying a lot, pushing through stress, and not always having space to process their own experiences while continuing to show up for others.

I graduated Eastern Michigan University with a major in psychology and a minor in nutrition in 2007. I completed my PhD program at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2014. During that time period I worked with patients in outpatient and inpatient settings including the University psychology clinic, Wayne State Family Medicine Center, Providence Alaska Family Medicine Center, and Providence Alaska inpatient services.I’m a clinical psychologist (PhD) specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, and the mind–body impact of stress. My approach is warm, relational, and psychodynamic — I help you understand not just what you’re feeling, but why it keeps happening. Many of my clients come to me after trying short-term or skills-only therapy and not feeling truly understood. Together, we look at the deeper patterns shaped by past experiences, trauma, and relationships. This includes medical trauma, chronic illness, health anxiety, and eating issues rooted in shame or self-criticism. I offer teletherapy to adults who want thoughtful, insight-oriented work that leads to lasting change.

I utilize a positive theoretical orientation which assumes that all individuals possess an innate desire for well-balanced emotional/mental health. I believe a person enters therapy with a strong wish, whether conscious or unconscious, to overcome obstacles and free themselves from constraints that are holding them back. I find that everyone needs a slightly different approach to accomplish these goals, so I adjust in technique for each specific challenge. I truly enjoy the experience of guiding my clients through this process and consider it a privilege to play such an important role in a person's life. “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. You may find yourself feeling things that don’t seem to make sense. You feel like you should be happy, able to manage it all, or that you shouldn’t feel stressed or worried because your problems don’t seem ‘big enough.’ Maybe you’re dealing with changes—whether planned or unexpected—that are difficult to navigate. Perhaps areas of life are being negatively impacted by stress related to the current state of the world. Hi! I’m Gina, and I specialize in empowering people to uncover the valid reasons behind their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I love helping clients reach those ‘light bulb’ moments when they begin to understand themselves in a new way and realize they’re not inherently flawed. Together, we explore how your thoughts, feelings, and responses truly make sense, allowing you to see yourself with greater compassion and clarity. I work with older adolescents and adults facing anxiety, past or recent trauma, life transitions, ADHD, and depression. My approach is strengths-based, focusing on the whole person to support genuine well-being. Through a straightforward, down-to-earth style, I engage with clients using proven techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, creating a supportive space to build resilience and foster growth.

I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to move out of dark places and into their truth. Much of the time we are living a narrative others have crafted, often driven by fear or pain rather than strength. These narratives can feel like prisons but we can heal and take back our story, and choose to see from our core. Embrace compassion, reflection and most of all self-love. Some of my greatest joy comes from helping people move past pain into healthy and loving relationships with themselves and others. I believe suffering is inevitable but not without wisdom and growth. Sometimes seeing our strengths is difficult. Self-love must include your whole being and all parts ~ messy, vulnerable, raw and authentic. You are the velveteen rabbit and you are already worthy of your own love. You are already real. I am licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and Texas. I see clients in these states only at this point. FYI Please schedule on the hour only. Otherwise, I will have to call you back and reschedule. I usually offer mostly daytime hours so having the time to meet during the day is important.

Problems In your relationship, emotionally, behaviorally, or even with substance abuse. Is it hard to be kind to yourself? I help individuals manage their anxiety, depression, or burnout by addressing the needs of your body, mind, and spirit using the bible. I integrate current counseling theories with sound biblical principles to help develop a stronger relationship with God, and a stronger you. Whether you are dealing with being overwhelmed, relationship issues, or cycles of anxiety and depression, I am here to help. Seeking therapy can seem scary and maybe even against some of the teachings you've learned in church, but you are making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together I will meet with you, and your spouse if you want, with compassion and evidence-based techniques while using biblical principles so you can overcome the hang-ups and habits holding you back. The research says that 1 in 4 people in the United States, at any given time, have mental health issues. This does not exclude the church. The average church in Virginia has 250 members attending on any given Sunday. That means that at least fifty people in your church service last Sunday are struggling with some type of mental illness or emotional problem. I work with churches to help them with ministering to the hurting, please let me help you.

I've been through a lot in my life. Most of you have too. After all, you find yourself here looking for something. It is my firm belief that each and every one of us has tremendous potential. We all have unique talents and skills, honed and sharpened through our life experiences. These experiences, while crucial to shaping us, can also leave us hurt, confused, numb, or insecure. It is paramount that we stop along our journey to take stock, address our needs, heal, and refocus. Sometimes, we realize we may benefit from having extra support or guidance through these moments. That is where therapy can help. Throughout my counseling career, I have had the privilege of being able to walk beside clients as they process the past, learn to be comfortable in the present, and get excited for the future. I am certified in trauma and treat clients with a wide range of concerns. Whether you feel ready to dive into therapy, or you are just contemplating the idea, I'd love to hear from you. I am currently accepting video clients for individual therapy. If you aren't ready to make contact, I have some resources available for self-reflection. Check out my blog at NotWavingButDrowning.org or my TikTok @MHMinute, where you'll find videos on a variety of mental health topics.

** COUPLES THERAPY ONLY** I am a multi-state licensed psychotherapist and relationship expert with almost 20 years in the mental health field. I am experienced in working with couples who are looking for support, clarity and problem solving skills in a safe, non-judgmental space. Please rest assure that you have come to the right place for guidance. It's great that you recognize the benefits of processing your emotions and concerns with a therapist who can help guide you in working through the challenges. The idea of you considering therapy tells me that you are looking for change to take place because something you are or aren't doing no longer working. This is where change happens...this is a very solution-driven space. The sessions are actively engaging, honest, direct, and transformative. We don't get to just talk about it here; we do something about it. Through challenging exercises, role-plays, dissecting, and insightful discussions; we see change. Your expectations and openness to learn new skills is significant to the process of the positive change you can be proud of.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who specializes in mental health. I am qualified to work with all ages. I love working with the elderly, couples who suffer from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. I have experience working with the severely mentally ill for more than thirty years. But my passion is the elderly. They do not get the attention they deserve, in my opinion. Considering that they have worked and contributed to society most of their lives.

My hopes are to be a soft place to fall when discussing life's challenges, difficult topics, painful thoughts & dashed hopes. As a 'young at heart' woman in my 50's, I'm a survivor of many of life's unexpected difficult high & low roads filled with detours, switchbacks & gotten lost trying to get myself over life's mountains. As a daughter, sister, friend, girlfriend, wife, mother, homemaker, older student, divorcee & ultimately becoming a compassionate solution-focused strength's based therapist after learning how powerful talk-therapy is. I'm familiar with life's sudden wake-up calls w/missed signs, getting comfortable & days/weeks become months/years w/o noticing how I'd drifted into patterns that didn't take into consideration my own wants, wishes & needs. I've been there. We all have histories where we made good, bad, convenient & self-defeating decisions based on what we knew. We've also been alongside others who may have done the same & negatively impacted you on your journey. Experience & wisdom can be incredible teachers. Understanding our truths of 'how-when-what-how-why' of it all can be the glue that sets us free from repeating/role-modeling what hurt/deterred us most. My innate curiosity, successes & failures has led me to find the honest answers I needed most and why I became a therapist. I earned my License as Clinical Social Worker with a focus on Adult Mental Health & Addiction. I've honed my passion, purpose & skills to help shorten the learning curve & needless suffering of those facing the slippery slopes when life's difficult moments/transitions were around corners we couldn't see.
