LCSW
20 years of experience

Welcome! My name is Marian Robinson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia with over 20 years of professional mental health experience. I have experience in helping clients with low motivation, relationship issues, self-esteem and confidence, career difficulties, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, and end of life issues. I take an eclectic, person-centered approach, CBT and psychodynamic approach where you are in the driver seat in your own recovery. I am here to support you in that process and will meet you where you’re at, without judgment. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy takes courage and I would be proud to help you get started.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked as a licensed clinical social worker with 22 years of experience working with older adults, adults, adolescents, and families I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping individuals (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Since becoming a licensed clinical social worker with 22 years of experience working, I developed a passion in working with older adults, adults, adolescents, and families. My clients over the years, have been eager to improve, but lack the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about their mental health stressors. This is where I come in which is to help you to identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has been my main treatment modality in my practice for the past 20 years. It has been my experience that it has helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other and impact your life. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy is a treatment modality approach that I have been using in my practice for the past 20 years. It draws on multiple theoretical orientations and techniques that I found to be beneficial in helping clients address their mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, coping and adjusting difficulties. It is a flexible and multifaceted treatment approach that allows the use of the most effective treatment methods that will help you feel more interested and engaged in the therapy process.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy has been one of my main treatment modalities in my practice for the past 20 years. Similar to psychoanalytic therapy in that it is an in-depth form of talk therapy based on the theories and principles but less focus on the patient-therapist relationship. We will use psychodynamic to develop an understanding that recognizing behaviors for what they are can help clients build healthy coping mechanisms. We will learn why you do what you do, tying past events and subconscious constructs into present behaviors and behavior patterns.

Christian Counseling

Christian Counseling has been a part of my clinical practice for 16 years. It has been my experience that this type of therapy is beneficial for clients that want to integrate traditional talk therapy methodologies with Christian belief practices by incorporating theological concepts.1 We will us the treatment modality to focus navigating spiritual concerns and everyday life struggles encountered by Christians.
