In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In my first session, clients can expect a safe, judgment-free space focused on building a strong relationship. I will blend Person-Centered Therapy while using empathy and unconditional positive regard with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address goal-setting and problem setting. The first session is important in establishing trust and rapport building. I will also ask open-ended questions to understand what brought them to therapy and how their current challenges are affecting their daily life. We will also work on collaborative goal setting utilizing Person-Centered principles, and together Together, and address exactly what they hope to achieve (e.g., managing a specific stressor or changing a behavioral pattern.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that trigger distress. In counseling, it teaches clients to recognize cognitive distortions (like catastrophizing), have them complete thought records to reframe negative self-talk into logical responses, and assign behavioral experiments to help them feel safe and confront their fears.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person Centered Theory allows us to practice unconditional positive regard and fully accept and support our clients without judgment, separating their inherent worth from their behaviors. This builds a safe space where they feel comfortable exploring vulnerable thoughts and difficult emotions. Also, important are practicing genuine authenticity, and offering active, and empathic listening.
