I often reflect back to the period of time when I decided to enter the field of psychology and counseling.  There were many life challenges along the way that extended a hand in my decision to pursue a career in the world of behavioral health. I have spent the last 21 years growing as an effective clinician, learning along the way that achieving holistic health and reaping the rewards through genuine fulfillment, takes courage and calls for commitment of the mind, body, and soul. Commitment to therapy as a pathway to optimal emotional health is not inconceivable and is a journey you do not have to walk alone. Being a part of someone else's healing process, or "search for meaning" is an extraordinary experience and certainly a privilege.

Hello, I'm M.L. I believe as humans we all want something similar, to feel normal. We want, desire, and try our best to feel like everyone else. Yet, simultaneously we desire to be unique, special, and individualistic. I believe it is necessary to think of humans as puzzle pieces in order to fulfill both. While the pieces share the same geographical space as well as have the same manufacturer, they are unique and serve varying purposes. Do you belong at the top but are content being a side piece? Are you on the bottom when you were meant to be at the center of it all? Let's collaborate and find out where you belong. You may discover the only thing wrong was where you (as a puzzle piece) tried to fit in. In therapy, I collaborate with the expert on the client (you), identify obstacles, and come up with strategies for working toward your goals. I do this by first remaining curious about you as a client as well as your perspective of the issue. I serve to remind clients that everything in life does not have to feel good in order to end with good results. You can't fix something that you don’t see. In a world of selfies no one is willing to look at any angle that doesn’t compliment their cuteness. What if you could see your truest self? The natural, emotional, relational, and spiritual you through a 3-way full body mirror. Imagine what would be possible. Good therapy, is a mirror into your soul.

While in therapy I will help you identify your inner strengths and regain control over your life. I will remind you to “not give up on yourself” and the goals you have for your life. I focus on you learning to truly love who you are, including your childhood, past, trauma, and hurt, as all of these experiences have impacted who you are, but they do not have to define you. I will place a high emphasis on building a strong rapport with you and making therapy more like a relaxed conversation. There is no need to feel ashamed or timid about sharing your experiences, as you did not come to me to be judged, you came to me for help, and that is what I am here to offer. I know therapy can be challenging to start and commit to, especially when it comes to making positive changes, so know that I will challenge you and ask you some hard questions, not to intimidate you, but to help you grow.

Hi there! I'm Rachel! Are you struggling to navigate everything life is throwing at you in the increasingly hectic world? I love exploring deep down the funnel of emotions with my clients using DBT, Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral strategies. Together we can tackle your anxiety, depression and the relational issues that come into play that keep you from being your ideal self, whether that be in your relationships, your family, your career, or another important area of your life. If you are fighting feelings of depression and anxiety, and struggling with self-compassion, I'd love to walk with you as you work to heal. In our sessions, we will explore who you are and what matters to you. We will tackle thought patterns that aren't serving you and work on new ways to interact with your thoughts and feelings that serve you more effectively. I offer a safe space for my clients to process what circumstances brought them to where they are at, and the gentle push to move forward. I love bringing self-compassion and mindfulness practices to sessions. I can imagine you are exhausted. From whatever pain has brought you here, I know that you wouldn't wish it on anyone else. I know you are probably so much more kind to others than you are to you. I want us to work on changing that. If you're ready, I am too!

Life in itself can seem very complex, and overwhelming at times, difficult to focus and concentrate on certain tasks, and many other obstacles stand in the way of accomplishing various goals. Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Hi, I'm Attalie. Have you forgotten to take care of yourself? Do you often wonder what it would take to feel some sense of balance in your life again? We are faced with challenges and changes in life constantly and making adjustments as we pivot to meet expectations of family, community, and work often leads to a sense of depletion and no time to care for self. If you often escape, avoid, procrastinate or for that matter take on everyone else's issues and never have time to sort out your own sense of wellness and health I am here to help you grow, understand and advocate for your overall health and well being. I look at mental health in a wholistic sense. I mix mindfulness and decades of experience in fitness to help you find what works for you. I empower you to live your best balanced life and find the fulfillment you need to step into the alignment of your purpose. Developing a strong relationship with self; defining your boundaries, recognizing your value systems and how they pertain to your way of being in this messy world are the staples to grounding yourself mentally. You are enough, you are deserving, and whatever you are dealing with now I'll meet you there. Let's work together to find tools that are intrinsically yours and get to a better you.
