Hello, my name is Geovanni Charles and I am a Licensed Practical Counselor in the state of PA. Originally from New York with a Caribbean background, I saw many instances growing up where mental health was at play, without many people aware of the extent it influenced everyone. My vision is one where mental health can be appreciated and provided to all, because we all have a right to be given help, especially when it comes to health. My mission is to help bridge that gap and provide mental health access to everyone, regardless of their class or status.

Hi, I'm Jason! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience helping folks aged 18-80+ improve their quality of life by reducing distress associated with mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, disrupted sleep, bipolar illness, and psychosis. My focus is always on my clients' needs, goals, and perspectives, and I seek to provide a space for individuals to find their own answers to the challenges they face. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporate this work to help people identify unhelpful patterns in their thoughts, feelings, and actions and disrupt cycles that leave them feeling stuck. I also incorporate tools and resources from additional therapeutic interventions, including person-centered therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to ensure my clients have the right tools to navigate the challenges they face. If you are looking for an opportunity to continue your journey of self discovery, reduce distress from mental health symptoms, or disrupt the cycles that leave you feeling "stuck," I am here when you're ready.

I'm an artist and art therapist based in Philadelphia, PA. I've worked within the community mental health field for more than a decade, providing group and individual counseling and art therapy. As a therapist, I lead with kindness, compassion, and humor. I believe that connection is the foundation of healing. I feel passionately about the importance of community care and the deep, transformative potential of creative expression. I’ve personally experienced how art can be a tool for processing trauma and making sense of life’s challenges. I believe every person has a unique and valuable perspective to share, and that your voice matters. I also have an old cat who may make an appearance from time to time. I love connecting with nature, birding, hiking, and being outdoors. I enjoy baking, making art, dancing, collecting books I hope to read, and tea. I dabble in tarot cards, reiki, and playing music.

👋 Hi, I’m Jen — a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Music Therapist. I work with children, teens and adults who are dealing with anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, eating disorders, or just that nagging feeling that life shouldn’t feel this hard. My sessions are relaxed, collaborative, and human. You won’t find therapy jargon or long awkward silences here (unless you need a second to think — then we’ll embrace it). My approach blends evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and music therapy. Sometimes that means diving into tough conversations, sometimes it means finding small ways to breathe again. I meet you where you are and help you get unstuck — one honest, real moment at a time. Before private practice, I worked at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia providing individual and group therapy for adolescents with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma. I also supported patients and families on the Oncology, Behavioral Health, PICU, and NICU units, and those navigating grief and loss. Those experiences taught me that healing rarely looks perfect, and that progress often starts with showing up — even when you don’t feel ready. My goal is simple: to help you make sense of what’s going on and find a little more ease in the middle of it all. Whether you’re ready to talk, vent, process, or just exist in the moment — I’ve got you.

I am confident I can support you in making positive changes in your life. I have dedicated the last 16 years of my life to the field of mental health, with a particular focus on change. I believe in an individual's ability to change and recover. I have co-authored articles published in the field of addictions, specifically harm reduction and homelessness. I have worked in research labs studying Bipolar Disorder, Autism, and the Gut/Brain axis. I have worked in an inpatient drug and alcohol rehab, numerous inpatient psychiatric units, emergency departments, a children’s hospital, and a nursing home. I have witnessed extreme forms of resilience, and I will work to translate this into your life. I have my Master's in Social Work and am educated in how our social and political systems impact mental health. I am also social justice-minded. I can provide a safe shelter for those overwhelmed by current affairs. I can help teach you skills to manage the traumatic stress that so many experience daily. Most recently, I worked in the depths of Philadelphia's opiate crisis at an inpatient drug and alcohol center where I provided both individual and group therapy. If you are struggling with addiction or addictive behaviors, I am confident I am well prepared to help you. I have personally worked on my own mental health recovery and can offer a personal perspective on the healing process. I was born and raised in Minnesota, but have lived in Seattle, Baltimore, Boston, and Philadelphia. I would be so happy to speak with you further if you feel we might be a good fit. You have already started the change process and should feel proud!

If you’re here it’s likely because you find yourself struggling. Perhaps you’re in the midst of a transition - a new job, a new city, graduating college, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a loved one. You’re not sure how to navigate the situation and the feelings associated with it are intense. Maybe you’re like the estimated 21 million U.S. adults living with depression. You can’t find any motivation. You're staying in more instead of meeting up with friends. You’re crying for no apparent reason. Maybe you’re like the estimated 42.5 million U.S. adults who live with anxiety. You can’t find rest. You don't feel safe. Your thoughts race and you feel on edge all the time. I'm here to walk with you. In our work together we will navigate immediate challenges while also finding new insights and a deeper self-awareness that will help you develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others. I often draw from Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and most prominently from a Psychodynamic approach to guide you through this process of change. Whether you're new to therapy or have had past experiences it is my hope that our work together will offer you new perceptions that can be used for change and help you feel more comfortable with you.

Hello! I appreciate that you’re taking this step toward finding a therapist you feel will be a good fit for you. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 13 years of experience. For most of this time I have worked with people around issues of depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, and relationship/family issues. I am also passionate about working with LGBTQ folks around issues of coming out and self-acceptance. I know that the decision to look for a therapist isn’t always an easy one but, by doing so, you are taking an important first step toward creating change for yourself! I take a down-to-earth, supportive, conversational approach to therapy. I engage in discussion and don’t hesitate to share my own life experience when appropriate. I find that a more personal approach helps strengthen the relationship between me and the people I meet with which, in turn, will help you feel more comfortable being open in sessions. I take this approach because therapy is most successful when a person feels like their therapist understands them and when there is some level of connection. I focus on ensuring you will feel both seen and heard starting with our first session. You will be approached by me with curiosity, interest, and care at all times. At the start of your sessions with me I will ask how you’d like to start that day’s conversation and, if you’re not sure, will support you in discovering what might be important for you to talk about in the moment. I invite you to schedule a first session to see if I am a good fit for what you’re looking for in therapy!

I strive to provide a structured and supportive space where sustainable change can occur. We know that life can be painful, and at times, completely devastating. As we navigate life, we inevitably encounter reality gaps, which are the space between the life we have and the life we want. The wider the gap, the deeper the distress. My role is to meet individuals where they are and guide them toward bridging that gap. Welcome to our space! In our time together we will address your concerns, as well as explore and highlight your personal strengths and attributes. I feel this is something we all neglect and these can be very empowering and key to working through our daily stressors. My style as a therapist is eclectic and energetic. Therapy can be a potent experience, but I am here to help accommodate the tears, toil, frustration, humor and other emotions that you cannot or may not wish to share with others. The world, our jobs, finances, and other obstacles are some of the many things that can zap our valuable mental and physical energy in a day. Burnout is more real now than ever before. Coming here is a way to recharge yourself so that you can be more present in the most important areas of your life and enjoy it in the process. We work together to develop skills and outlets in which to manage these stressors. You can become the most positive, healthy version of yourself. I welcome the pleasure of working with people from many different cultures and backgrounds, and I am an avid supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been working 100 percent virtually. This direction in therapy has allowed me to interact with more people that are not within my geographical location. When a person is in an environment where they feel most comfortable, they are better able to express themselves. My source of empowerment comes from my husband and our enjoyment in caring for our animals. We have a good start on a boring zoo.. (dogs, cats, chickens, fish). They are my reason for working from home. For me, being outdoors and caring for animals is very therapeutic as well as rewarding.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Pennsylvania rather than a city like Philadelphia?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Scranton! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Pennsylvania.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Depression?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Depression, is filtering therapists in Pennsylvania that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
