Steven Johnston CPC LPCC-S has been a clinical counselor for over twenty years, with special training in the areas of Pastoral Counseling , having additonal experience in treating victims of Domestic Violence ; Child Sexual Abuse; Trauma, workplace issues and Marital counseling. A graduate from Ashland Theological Seminary in 1988. Because Mr. Johnston did not want to exclude religious commitment issues from the therapeutic setting, he chose to pursue his Counseling degree from Ashland Seminary after graduating with ministerial degree from the Foursquare Church of the Gospel’s, Life Bible College East. He has continued to extend his Clinical Pastoral Studies through membership and training in the American Association of Christian Counselors. To avoid excluding an aspect of life that has shown to be of central importance to nearly two-thirds of the US population, Mr. Johnston has sought to integrate spiritual issues from a Biblical point of view in a way compatible with Biblical doctrine and Pastoral Counseling. This integration as it applies to marital, family and individual issues has been found to promote inner healing as it supports the client’s own religious coping skills.

With a doctorate in Human Services specializing in Leadership and Organizational Management from Capella University, I bring over 13 years of experience as a licensed independent social worker (LISW-S) in Ohio. My work focuses on mental health and substance abuse therapy, and I’ve had the privilege of working with both youth and adults in individual, family, and group counseling settings. I use a blend of evidence-based techniques in my practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Therapy, all tailored to meet each person’s unique needs. I also have a background in teaching as an adjunct instructor, where I’ve had the honor of inspiring many former clients to pursue careers in human services and become advocates for their communities. In group counseling, I often incorporate creative methods, drawing from my background in art to help clients express themselves and find healing in new ways. Outside of work, I’m an avid reader, writer, and art enthusiast. I love spending time with family, playing video games, singing my heart out at karaoke, and sharing laughs with friends. Many of the young people I work with come to me feeling overwhelmed, unsure of themselves, or stuck between who they are and who they want to be. If you’re dealing with anxiety, self‑esteem, life transition stress, or the pressure of figuring out life on your own terms, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to sort it out by yourself. I’m a Licensed Independent Social Worker‑Supervisor based in Ohio with 30+ years of experience supporting adolescents and young adults. I’ve worked in schools, detention centers, homes, and communities, and I’ve met people from all walks of life-including one family who lived as vampires. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker based in Ohio and have been in the field since 2013. I graduated from Miami University in 2013 with my bachelor's degree in psychology and worked as a case manager for a year, assisting adults with managing mental health symptoms. I also helped with medication management, and assisted with supporting them in daily living skills, before getting my master's degree in social work in 2016. Once I graduated with my Master's, I then worked at a community based correctional facility for 3 years as a mental health and addiction specialist. I completed diagnostic assessments and facilitated individual and group therapy sessions for mental health and addiction. From there, I began working at an inpatient behavioral health hospital and assisted patients there with acute mental health needs and helped to provide referrals for outpatient treatment. Since 2020, I have been working with clients doing individual therapy and have been growing my private practice. I find it rewarding to be able to work with clients long-term and get to know them as a person while meeting each individual where they are; what their struggles are, what their successes are, see progress they make in different areas of their lives, and develop a rapport that is respectful and supportive. I have been able to gain a great deal of experience over my 13 years with a very diverse background through promotion and advancement, in the mental health field, and those experiences help me to navigate my therapeutic approach to assist with being able to better serve clients while we are working together.

Hi! In my work over the years, I have had the pleasure to see my clients succeed at life! I am compassionate, non-judgmental, and we will meet wherever you are and take you wherever you want to go. I look forward to working with you! Specializations Addiction and/or Substance Use Concerns, Anger Management, Anxiety, Couples Counseling, Depression, Family Therapy, Grief, Health Psychology, Parenting Issues, Relationship Issues, Sleep Health, Women's Health. In our sessions, you can see into my home, and it is as if you are right there with me. No filters, no staring at a wall behind me. You will be inside of my home office as if it were in person. At our sessions I take notes that I give to you at the end of our sessions, so you have have something tangible to take with you, as well as links to resources such as podcasts, books, take home exercises (never mandatory though!) to help you progress in between sessions to make our time together more valuable. I used to be in direct service many years ago and then moved into training EAP providers and offering trainings for Mental Health providers to maintain their licenses, but during the, "Great Hiatus," I saw that people needed help. So I came back to be in the trenches. You are in good hands! I am also a student of positive psychology, but I have the ability to empathize deeply and really be right there with you. Almost all of my clients have experienced breakthroughs and by the end of our time together are enjoying their lives again and feeling competent to problem solve and develop coping tools, and resiliency.

As a social worker therapist grounded in mindfulness theory, my dream client embodies a spirit of openness and motivation for change. This individual recognizes the challenges that come with personal growth but approaches therapy with a willingness to explore and confront these difficulties. They appreciate the journey of self-discovery and are eager to gain insights that can lead to meaningful transformation in their life. In our sessions, I envision a collaborative environment where they feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions. They understand that progress may not always be linear, yet they remain committed to the process. This client values the therapeutic relationship and seeks guidance to cultivate greater self-awareness, resilience, and mindfulness in their daily life. What I cherish most about this ideal client is their ability to reflect on their experiences and actively engage in their healing journey. They inspire me with their courage to face discomfort and their desire to learn and grow. Together, we would explore various mindfulness practices and therapeutic techniques, fostering a deep connection that empowers them to embrace change with compassion and patience. Ultimately, my dream client is someone who is not only motivated to seek help but also appreciates the support and insight I can offer. In this partnership, we would work hand in hand to navigate the complexities of their experiences, celebrating each step toward a more fulfilled and mindful existence. This collaborative spirit of growth and understanding is what makes the therapeutic journey profoundly rewarding for both of us.

I go by Becky and have been working with children and families since 2004. I have provided many different kinds of case management and therapeutic services in my social work career. I believe that wellness includes many factors of a person's life--mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Some of those things in your life might be in balance while other areas are not. You probably already have the ability to manage many situation or challenges with a combination of existing strengths and learned skills; we can add to those together. My enjoy using play therapy. Through play child, families, and (yes!) adults can work through many issues in their lives. The best part is all the hard work doesn't feel like work. We learn skills by playing throughout our entire lives beginning with playing peek-a-boo; on the grade school play ground; sports and backyard games; as well as board games and card games with friends. If playing isn't for you, I also provide the traditional "talk therapy" that most people are familiar. I received a specialization in Military Social Work during my master’s program at USC and have a passion for working with those, both children and adults, who have experienced trauma. Trauma can show up in a lot of different ways and look like many things. In counseling, we can use a combination of CBT, solution focused, and problem-solving therapy, along with Motivational Interviewing, trauma therapies, and Play Therapy when appropriate. Your plan, developed in your words, will be a great road map for reaching your desired destination. I would be honored to walk with you along that path. Seeking help reflects the courage and drive that you already have within you.

I’m Dawn Adler, LISW-S, MPPM. I’m committed to creating a therapeutic space where every person—regardless of background—is valued, supported, and seen for their innate goodness. My work is grounded in the belief that each individual has a unique purpose, a spark of potential, and the ability to grow, heal, and elevate their life. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. In our sessions, I offer a warm, compassionate, and judgment-free environment where you can share openly and reconnect with the strengths already within you. I especially enjoy working with individuals who value genuine connection and are interested in personal growth, emotional resilience, and cultivating a meaningful life. Together, we’ll explore what’s weighing on you, strengthen what’s already good inside you, and work toward becoming the most aligned, grounded, and empowered version of yourself—at a pace that feels right for you.

I’m a Veteran turned Therapist. I believe that the client needs to express the issues and trauma that they have along with being given coping skills and tools to deal with the symptoms associated with their issues. I believe in being proactive. I don’t want the client to think that I’m just there listening and nodding my head. I want them to know that this is a collaborative process and I’m in it with them to help them become with self and overcome any obstacles in their way.

I have been licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor since 2004, and have held a supervision designation since 2015. I have also held a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with a supervision/training designation license since 2018. I have maintained a private counseling practice in Chillicothe since 2000, and I continue to work with individuals and families in that capacity. I have dedicated my career to helping others and to working with the community to ensure the well-being of families and children. My most common theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Christian Therapy, but I am proud to be able to use a multitude of approaches, dependent on what works best for the client(s) involved. I value the individual and the couple regardless of age or philosophical approach to their life or relationship. I see my goal of treatment as improving the individual or couple to be the best they want to be. My communication tone or approach tends to be direct but laid back. We are in session to work together, not have me tell you what to do or where you need to go.

Are you worried about your child or family? Maybe you’ve been carrying stress, anxiety, grief, conflict for so long that you barely recognize yourself anymore. You may have spent years trying to stay strong for everyone else while quietly struggling on your own. If so, you are not alone. I offer a warm and supportive space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin to make sense of what you’re going through without fear of judgment. With nearly 70 years of experience, I understand how deeply emotional pain, relationship struggles, family stress, loss, and life transitions can affect people. I have extensive experience working with young people facing challenges such as self-harming behaviors, trauma, addictions, and family conflict. I have worked successfully with adults navigating substance use concerns, chronic pain and other health difficulties, caregiver burnout, grief, various forms of loss, and major life transitions. I also support individuals struggling with stress, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and long-standing patterns that keep them disconnected from themselves and others. In addition, I work with couples facing communication difficulties, separation, infidelity, divorce and other challenges, as well as families dealing with parenting stress, illness, addictions, cultural adaptation, and significant life changes. I am able to support families with young children who are experiencing developmental difficulties, health challenges, or acting-out behaviors and I provide pre-marital counseling for couples who are about to tie the knot. Throughout our work together, I strive to help clients build greater self-awareness, strengthen relationships, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward a greater sense of balance, connection, and emotional well-being. Clients describe me as warm, accepting, validating, and easy to talk to. My goal is to create a safe and caring space where you feel supported, understood, and less alone as we work together toward healing, and meaningful change.
