LISW, 20 years of experience
For over twenty years, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting individuals and families across the social services field. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Ohio University, along with both a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Psychology. Raised between Broward County, Florida, and rural Scioto County, Ohio, I grew up in the 1980s. During this time, mental health was rarely talked about. Living in a divorced household and witnessing the quiet struggles around me sparked my early curiosity about human resilience and emotional well-being. My career began in domestic violence shelters and community mental health centers, and has since expanded to include work in hospitals, nursing homes, managed-care, and home-based settings. These experiences have shaped my deep belief in meeting people where they are and honoring every story with compassion and respect.
During our first session, I take the time to get to know you. I want to know your story, your goals, and what’s brought you to counseling. People seek therapy for many different reasons, and I want to understand what matters most to you so we can focus our work in a way that feels meaningful and supportive. I understand that making time for therapy is a big step, especially with the demands of daily life. To make the process as convenient as possible, I offer weekday evening appointments — typically at 7:00 or 8:00 PM EST — so you can prioritize your well-being without disrupting your routine.
Previous clients have shared that they feel safe, heard, and understood during our sessions. Over the years, many have entrusted me with deeply personal stories; experiences they’ve never shared with anyone else. I consider it an incredible honor to hold that trust and to walk alongside each person in their journey. I’m truly grateful that you’re considering me as your therapist.
I work with -adults- who are navigating life’s challenges: whether you’re healing from narcissistic abuse, facing a major life transition, or struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, or discontent in your life. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or uncertain about the next step. Together, we create a space where healing, clarity, and self-understanding can begin. To make your first session as smooth as possible, I ask that all intake paperwork be completed electronically at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. I will send this paperwork to you within 24 hours after you schedule with me. By getting this completed before the appointment, it allows us to focus our time together on you and your goals for therapy. To ensure I can provide the best care possible, I currently do not work with clients who have open or pending legal matters, or plans in the near future: court-ordered treatment, active CPS cases, divorce, custody disputes, domestic violence situations, or ongoing lawsuits. I do not see people who are struggling with thoughts of harming self or another person. My practice is focused on offering individual counseling sessions for adults in a supportive and confidential space.
This approach honors your unique perspective and encourages self-discovery and personal growth. Rather than giving advice, I support you in uncovering your inner strengths and insights, helping you build confidence to make the changes you want in your life.
Together, we’ll talk through any mixed feelings or uncertainties you might have about making changes. My role is to support and encourage you to find your own reasons and confidence to move forward, and at a pace that feels right for you.
CBT is a practical and evidence-based approach to counseling that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Often, our thoughts influence how we feel and act, sometimes in ways that keep us stuck or stressed. In CBT, we work together to identify and challenge unhelpful or negative thought patterns and replace them with more balanced, realistic ones. By doing this, you can start to feel better emotionally and make positive changes in your behavior.
