Summary: If you're seeking a realistic approach in modifying your current circumstances maybe I can lend some assistance. Life outcomes will have a better chance to come to fruition when one's mindset and subsequent behavior aligns themselves accordingly. And the connection is your ownership of the process.
With a Master’s in Counseling from Oakland University, I specialize in helping individuals navigate challenges related to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, life stressors and relationship struggles. I have been guiding people through life's challenges for the last 16 years. I am a parent myself and understand the stress of balancing work and families which gives me the perspective to help others.
I could list my degrees (MSW from USC), my credentials (LCSW, CFTP) and my experience (10 years of individual and couples therapy). Most of all I am a mom, a sister, a grandmom and a retired veteran. I understand life from many intersections. I know the stigma of seeing a mental health professional, but I also know that most of people that are in therapy seek treatment because they have to deal with people that refuse to seek treatment for themselves. I create a safe space to process what you have experienced, what you want to change, and what are your barriers to success.

Hi, I’m Maria a Licensed Professional Counselor with twenty years of experience, including more than fourteen years supporting military service members and their families. I specialize in working with adults who look put together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck under the surface. Many of my clients are used to carrying everything alone, pushing through stress, and holding themselves to impossible standards. My goal is to help you move from survival mode into a steadier, more grounded way of living where you feel clear, capable, and supported, not stretched thin.
I specialize in trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, life transitions, along with anxiety and depression. I am passionate about supporting folks on their journey to well-being. My commitment to being client-centered means that I prioritize your unique experiences, values, and goals throughout our work together. I am someone who is passionate about the work I do and want clients to feel validated and seen; sometimes for the first time in their lives.

Hello potential client! You are hurting in some way if you are here reading this. Maybe you feel like you are getting more and more stressed out and just one more stressor would be too much for you to handle. Maybe you worry all the time about everything and can't stop. Maybe you are sad all the time and don't enjoy doing things that used to be fun. Maybe you are feeling helpless or hopeless about what to do. Maybe you have been through a traumatic experience or are grieving. Maybe you are thinking the way you have been using substances is causing you problems. You have tried your best to help yourself but nothing has worked the way you hoped it would. You don't know what to do but you do know you can't keep going the way you have been.
This is where I come in! I help people who are ready to change for the better! My heart is for helping hurting people and I strive to treat all of my clients with the compassion and respect I believe they deserve. The most important part of positive change in a therapeutic relationship depends on just that - the relationship between the therapist and the client. I also use a variety of resources to help my clients. These include evidence-based types of therapy, worksheets and measurements. I also offer Christian counseling to those who are interested and am also happy to work with people of other spiritual beliefs.
I offer free consultation calls so we can both decide if working together would be a good fit for both of us. I look forward to hearing from you if I sound like I would be your kind of therapist!
If you struggle with anxious attachment, people pleasing, setting boundaries, feeling triggered, anger, anxiety, depression, co-dependence, parenting issues, and ADD/ ADHD, then I want to work with you. These symptoms and attachment style are often related to each other and often related to similar childhood experiences of inconstant or abusive/neglectful caregivers. (ADD and ADHD is not cause by caregivers, however, when it goes undiagnosed in children, there is s strong correlation to symptoms described above)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges while creating healthier and more fulfilling lives. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of working with people from diverse backgrounds, each with their own unique story, strengths, and struggles. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how deeply personal circumstances are influenced by larger systems, and how healing requires both compassion and practical strategies.
My therapeutic style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I believe that healing is not something I do for you but something we create together. I meet you exactly where you are, without judgment, and walk beside you as you move forward. My role is to provide guidance, support, and evidence-based tools that empower you to make meaningful changes while honoring your lived experiences.
I specialize in helping clients manage stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges, but I also work with individuals seeking personal growth, clarity, or support during life transitions. Regardless of the circumstances, I view therapy as a space where people can feel seen, heard, and supported in ways that allow them to connect more deeply with themselves and others.
At the core of my approach is the belief that every individual possesses resilience, strengths, and untapped potential. Therapy is a process of uncovering those strengths, identifying barriers, and creating a path toward balance and fulfillment. Whether you are facing a major life crisis or simply want to live with greater authenticity and joy, I am committed to helping you discover new possibilities for growth and healing.
Together, we can build a foundation that supports lasting change and a more meaningful, empowered life.

As a clinical social worker I have thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of helping individuals identify and address many mental health concerns and move towards the life they most desire. I am passionate about addressing the stigma around addictions and serious mental illness and I believe the best way to begin any mental health journey of recovery is with compassion and understanding. I have spent several years working exclusively with homeless veterans and individuals struggling with addiction, and this has given me additional perspective and insight into the needs of some of our most vulnerable populations. I am an advocate, an accountability partner, an empath and your greatest cheerleader. I'm excited to help you rediscover your best self and to claim the life you deserve.
