About me

Hi, I’m James. I have been counseling for several years. I consider myself to be compassionate, warm, and interested in learning who my clients are as people beyond just knowing what their symptoms are. The counseling experience with me is a partnership, not me pontificating to you about how you should be living your life. You are more than a partner in this process, you are the leader for managing your wellness with me offering feedback and guidance as necessary.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will involve a lot of questions so I can get to know you. It is important to get as full of a picture as possible of what you are bringing to meetings and what your needs are. I also want to get to know you as a whole person, in addition to whatever is troubling you at the moment. Expect to be given the opportunity to ask me questions as well. You will have the chance to get to know me as a professional and as a person to make sure we will be a good fit for each other.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My practice is centered around you and focused on your strengths; I adjust therapeutic techniques to fit into a personalized plan just for you to help reach your goals by removing barriers getting in the way through building new skills while strengthening the abilities you already have. Throughout my ears working in this field, I have been able to help people successfully, transform their lives by enhancing their capabilities and reaching milestones they didn’t originally think possible. I hope for the chance to help you do the same.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with people who are motivated and committed to their well-being, willing to have good attendance and commit to at least four sessions before deciding to make a change with attending therapy, and also somebody who will communicate with me openly and honestly. I do really enjoy working with older teenagers, younger adults, and middle-age adults. Especially people who identify as athletes, experiencing a disability or chronic condition, and those who are experiencing substantial life changes and need a hand with guidance and support.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

I believe that focusing on building strengths and remembering current strengths is essential to building the confidence to overcome current barriers to goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

It is important to recognize and understand how the quality of our thoughts can impact the way we see ourselves and how resilient we can be.

Faith based therapy

I carry a background and understanding in the Christian faith from growing up Catholic and can listen without judgment to someone questioning their faith as well as be supportive and help facilitate someone who wants to use their Christian values as part of their treatment goals.

Psychoeducation

I have learned many techniques and resources that can be valuable to help pass along to clients so they may be more informed on how to take charge of their wellness.

Mind-body approach

I will teach clients techniques and strategies they can use to tap into their own bodies, natural mechanisms to influence physiology, and create relaxation as well as focus.
