New to Grow
My name is Katy, I graduated from Wayne State University with my bachelors in social work in 2019, and my masters in social work in 2020. I began my career working with children with autism and eventually started working with children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism assisting with locating services and providing a comfortable space to discuss what they need.
In our first session, you can expect to briefly go over the intake form with me as well as talk about more in depth what goals you have for meeting with me. We will also talk about a realistic schedule for how often we would meet to work on those goals. We will go over general rules for therapy such as safety and confidentiality.
My previous clients have all provided good feedback about our work together, have felt comfortable in sessions, and we work on their goals together.
I would like to work with young adults facing lack of self-esteem, anyone in need of learning coping skills, or looking to start new careers. I am very comfortable with assisting others in navigating life changes such as graduating and moving on to a higher level of education, or seeking alternatives such as a trade school. I also have experience with those with developmental disabilities and autism.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy is used to assist you in learning to reframe negative thoughts and reduce anxiety, and depressive symptoms, as well as improve self esteem.
Humanistic
It's important to feel comfortable while talking in therapy. I value a non-judgmental setting, so clients can feel validated and heard.
