Every story deserves a witness and every voice deserves to feel heard. As a clinician I take a humanistic approach when meeting with clients. For me, Humanistic means engaging with clients and taking a non-judgmental approach while they share about the barriers they're facing in life. My goal is to create a safe space as clients work towards self-acceptance and work through difficult emotions. I have worked in the mental health field for 5+ years with a focus on helping those with developmental disabilities, and severe mental illness. I am passionate about guiding clients with ADHD, depression, anxiety, and trauma to reach their fullest potential. Everyone has a different starting point and no matter what brings you to therapy, I'm here to meet you where you're at. Every client experience is unique and deserves to be treated as such. Working together using a humanistic approach we will work together to find what works best for you to reach your identified wants and goals. This is your story, I'm just here to be your non-judgment listener while you figure out the ending.
In our first session, you can expect to briefly go over the intake form with me as well as talk about more in depth what goals you have for meeting with me. We will also talk about a realistic schedule for how often we would meet to work on those goals. We will go over general rules for therapy such as safety and confidentiality. You can expect a warm and relaxed experience as we get to know each other. We can move at your pace as I understand it is overwhelming to take that first step.
When we meet I will hold space and sit with you though the hard and celebrate with you through the accomplishments. Life has ups and downs and I am here to listen to them all with you as you see fit. At times I may gently challenge you to reframe your thinking and help you feel like there is more than one option to overcome your barriers. Diversity is important to me and no matter what your background is I will be here to support you and empower you to take the next steps.
I would like to work with young adults facing lack of self-esteem, anyone in need of learning coping skills, or looking to start new careers. I am very comfortable with assisting others in navigating life changes such as graduating and moving on to a higher level of education, or seeking alternatives such as a trade school. I also have experience with those with developmental disabilities and autism.
