My dream therapeutic client is someone who is ready and willing to invest in their emotional well-being and engage fully in the therapeutic process. They are motivated to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with openness and curiosity, even when it feels uncomfortable. These clients are committed to understanding and addressing the root causes of their challenges, rather than avoiding or suppressing their feelings. They value the opportunity to process emotions, build self-awareness, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether working through past traumas, navigating life transitions, or striving for personal growth, they embrace the journey with a willingness to reflect, take accountability, and make meaningful changes. Ultimately, these clients recognize that emotional healing is not a quick fix but a process, and they are eager to partner with me in creating a more fulfilling, balanced, and authentic life.

Real talk—life’s messy, people are complicated, and therapy shouldn’t feel like a tense, uncomfortable session where you’re scared to be yourself or worried about being judged. I’m human too, and making sure this space feels genuinely safe, welcoming, and judgment-free isn’t just something I do, it’s at the core of who I am as a therapist. You deserve to be fully seen and heard exactly as you are, no masks, no pretending, and I’m here to keep it real with you every step of the way. I am a licensed professional counselor with six years of experience working alongside children, adolescents, adults, and those facing some of life’s toughest challenges. I bring a spunky, eclectic energy into the room and aim to create dialogue that feels real, honest, and refreshingly human. Never forced or scripted. I work from a trauma-informed perspective, weaving together multiple evidence-based methods to tailor treatment that fits you, not the other way around. Specializing in trauma, major depressive disorder, suicidal ideation, anxiety, PTSD, and navigating complex family relationship dynamics, I’m committed to fostering autonomy and safety in every session. I welcome all identities and backgrounds with open arms, ensuring everyone feels accepted and valued in this space.

Tara works with her clients to assist them with changing any self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. My work has mostly revolved around individuals and families coping with major life changes. Grief and loss can come in many forms - divorce, death, loss of a job, rejection from peers, etc. In the past, I have worked in hospital, inpatient hospice, home hospice, and palliative care settings. Today, I see patients at bedside, in the home, and with patients transitioning to different phases in their life journey. Aside from working with the patients themselves, I embrace strong family communication and problem solving. When parents need a higher level of care, caregivers often feel overwhelmed, ashamed, and dealing with many tasks to have the patient moved to a safer environment. I strive when helping these families utilize the benefits of their communities along with evidence based practice to obtain gains in regards to psychiatric symptomology.

I have lived a long and colorful life. Like everyone else, I've made good and bad choices and learned from each. I have 22+ years experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My role is to offer another perspective, a way to see life more fully and function better, no more, no less. I don't pretend to have all the answers but only one slice of wisdom. I just share what can help someone. Some people are not yet ready to be helped. Yet for those who are feeling lost on life's journey and are willing to listen and learn, I'm here to assist. My life work can be summed up in three words, "offering people hope. " "Wouldn't take nothin' for my journey now." - Maya Angelou "The past is gone, and there is left only a blessing." - Kahlil Gibran "Be true to yourself, and you will be false to no one else." - William Shakespeare "How very lucky are we, for just a moment to be, part of life's eternal rhyme." Licensed Psychotherapist | Culturally Sensitive | Trauma-Informed Welcome, I’m Nubia. Healing doesn’t happen overnight — but with the right support, it absolutely happens. Whether you're working through trauma, betrayal, anxiety, divorce, or simply feeling emotionally stuck, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity, strength, and care. I work with adults navigating life transitions, stress, or emotional wounds that have been hard to process alone. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or unsure of how to break free from patterns that no longer serve them. Together, we explore the deeper “why” behind those patterns — and create space for healing, resilience, and growth. My approach is grounded in evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). These methods help us understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected — and how to gently shift the beliefs that keep you feeling stuck. But beyond technique, I lead with authenticity, compassion, and cultural awareness. In our sessions, you’ll find a space that feels safe, honest, and judgment-free. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’re returning to it, you are welcome exactly as you are. Clients often tell me they feel more centered, more empowered, and more hopeful after working together. I offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and virtual sessions, because healing should fit into real life. If you’re ready to begin your journey — whether you’re clear on your goals or still figuring them out — I’d be honored to support you. Let’s take the first step, together. Warmly, Nubia Anacius , MS,NBCC,LPC Licensed Psychotherapist

Successful therapy requires the establishment of a trusting, nurturing and respectful environment coupled with a high level of therapeutic skills on the part of the clinician.

I received an MA in Humanistic Psychology in 2007 from the University of West Georgia. I use a client-centered, humanistic approach focusing on aspects of Mindfulness, Existentialism, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related diagnoses as well as other life experiences. My learning and healing journey has been full of the unexpected and the changes have come in a variety of forms. Some I have savored, leaving me filled with a sense of wonder. Others have left me picking up the broken pieces, wondering in what possible way I might ever come back together again. I have been lucky, I think, to have the lens of Psychology to help me along the way. Along our way together I will offer this lens to you.

Have you noticed that your child is acting differently– not as interested in school work, arguing more, changed her habits or friends, lost interest in hobbies, is more withdrawn? Have you tried to cheer your child up, cajoled her, or maybe you’ve taken away privileges, like the phone or computer time in an effort to correct behavior but nothing seems to work? If you’ve come to the end of your rope and want solutions, I can help. As a parent of two boys I have walked the winding, rocky, breathtaking path of parenthood. As a therapist, I have worked with a broad range of children, adolescents, and their parents to not only get through rough spots or trauma but to have it be the foundation of a stronger, more connected family relationship. Because this platform is based in providing telehealth virtually, and not in person, I have found it best to serve clients that are 10 years old (3rd grade) and older.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
