Greetings! My name's Bertrona Freeman and I am a compassionate and practical therapist who supports adults navigating substance use concerns, anger, grief, trauma, emotional regulation, relationships stress, and major life transitions. My approach is grounded in helping clients feel heard, understood, and empowered while also encouraging accountability, self-awareness, and meaningful change. I enjoy working with individuals who are ready to better understand their patterns, strengthen coping skills, improve decision-making, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. I have experience engaging clients individually and in group settings, using psychoeducation, skill-building, and relatable discussions to help clients connect what they learn in therapy to real-life situations. I believe therapy should be both supportive and useful, offering clients a safe space to process painful experiences while also developing tools they can apply outside of session. Whether a client is working through grief, managing triggers, addressing aggressive behaviors, rebuilding after substance use, or learning to become more emotionally present in relationships, I strive to meet them with empathy, honesty, and respect. My goal is to help clients gain insight, increase emotional awareness, and create lasting changes that support healing, stability, and personal growth.

I have worked at the VA, FL civil commitment prison, a psychiatric hospital and for the last five years counsel for a local hospital system serving a diverse population. Married, 5 kids, (3 adopted), cats and dogs, successes and failures in both business and personal life. Hello and welcome, I'm Ericka, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in supporting people whose work—and often their identity—is centered on caring for others, until somewhere along the way they've lost sight of themselves. As both a therapist and clinical leader, I've spent years supporting the people others rely on most. I've learned that the people who seem strongest are often carrying the heaviest burdens, and too often, capable people mistake surviving for living. Whether your goal is to leave work at work, sleep through the night, stop feeling guilty for resting, or simply feel like yourself again, we'll work together to help you reconnect with the person beneath all the responsibility. Because the people everyone depends on deserve someone they can depend on, too.

I provide individual therapy for Black men and for adolescents who need a space where they are understood. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. Whether you are exploring therapy for yourself or as a couple, for the first time or returning to it, let us acknowledge the courage and humility it takes to seek support outside of yourself - a powerful step toward healing, growth, and change. You may be navigating stress, loss, disconnection, conflict, anger, depression, anxiety, a difficult event, or living with trauma. You may already have insight into your challenges and are looking for the right support to nudge you forward. You are here. I have been a mental health service provider since 2004, after earning my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida. I'm currently pursuing a doctorate in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University, where my research focuses on relational resonance, relationships, and reconciliation in conflict resolution. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based practices, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance & Commitment, Mindfulness, Interpersonal, Humanistic and Client-Centered, Psychodynamic therapeutic modalities, among others. While theory and technique are crucial, I believe the heart of therapy lies in genuine human connection. I sit with you. I listen to understand your unique lived experiences. I support you. Through questioning, you are guided to the answers you seek; with your permission, I offer different perspectives and encouragement as you do the meaningful work of change. We build a therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, honesty, and collaboration. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your path to greater well-being.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over six years of experience, and my goal is to create a warm, supportive, and culturally aware space where you can genuinely feel seen and understood. My work centers on helping people navigate emotional ups and downs, major life transitions, and the lingering impact of early experiences that still shape how they move through the world today. I lean on evidence-based approaches, but I bring them into the room in a real, grounded way—so we’re not just talking about what’s hard, but actually uncovering root patterns and building tools that support real, lasting change. And before anything else, I want to acknowledge that choosing to show up for your mental health is huge. Is life feeling heavy right now? Does it feel like the harder you try, the more lost you become? When navigating a major life transition—like a recent loss, an empty nest, a career shift, or an ending relationship—your mind tries to think its way through the change, but your nervous system carries the actual burden. If you have spent months talking about your stress in therapy but your body still feels exhausted, anxious, or stuck, somatic work may be the missing piece. I provide a warm, gentle space specializing in somatic (body-centered) therapy and mindfulness for women experiencing: The heavy, physical ache of deep burnout and grief A constant tightness in the chest or unshakeable fatigue Feeling completely disconnected from your own body We won’t just analyze your overwhelm; we will work together to help your body safely release it. You don’t have to navigate this threshold alone. Let’s help you breathe a little deeper and feel truly grounded again. Please Note: I believe healing burnout starts with modeling it. I deliberately limit my client slots so I can show up with total clinical presence, depth, and intention—giving you a calm, grounded space to slow down and heal.

My approach is down-to-earth, supportive, and focused on helping you understand yourself, develop healthier coping skills, set boundaries, and make positive changes in your life. Because sleep quality is critical to physical and mental health I am passionate about helping people get good sleep. I received my PhD from Duke University and have been a practicing psychologist for several decades. I work primarily with behavioral sleep medicine because sleep problems are so widespread, and there are not enough specialists to meet the need. I have published several articles and a book on sleep and am the director of the insomnia course for the World Sleep Academy, as well as a member of the Outreach and Public Education Committee, Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine. I continue working with people with anxiety, depression, and couples issues on a limited basis. The methods I use are evidence-based and trauma-informed. I am also an ordained member of the clergy (rabbi) and consider one's spirituality an important part of treatment for many, though not all, people. I’ve practiced telehealth exclusively since early 2020. Most people appreciate working this way because of convenience. Therapy is not adversely affected, and I am even able to do hypnotherapy via telehealth.

I believe that each one of us has the answers to our problems inside of us. However, sometimes we need someone on our journey to help us unlock those answers by asking the right questions---things you may not have considered, presenting proven strategies, and psychoeducation. Although, you will make strides with the energy and effort you give, the number one predictor that one will improve is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. I hope to provide a place of warmth, compassion, and acceptance in which you feel empowered and free to approach any concerns. I am here to help you along on your journey. I am a licensed mental health counselor in Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Utah. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with an Educational Specialist degree in Mental Health Counseling. I also earned a Master's of Art from Roosevelt University. I have experience working with youth and their families as well as adults. The theoretical framework that I usually draw from is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I also apply Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing Techniques as needed. I address trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, interpersonal skills, self-esteem, anger, problem-solving, and decision-making. In conjunction with therapy, I believe that exercise, proper nutrition, and good sleep hygiene are an integral part of overcoming mental health concerns. Change, even positive change can be challenging and uncomfortable. I hope to provide the necessary support as a champion of change.
