LMHC, 10 years of experience
I’m Sophie — it’s great to meet you! I am an independently licensed therapist in Florida, Ohio, and Indiana, offering virtual therapy and accepting most major insurance in all three states. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and empowering. I aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, validated, and equipped with practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. I know asking for help isn’t always easy — you’re brave for taking this step. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. I’ve worked with individuals facing addiction and eating disorders for over 10 years and also specialize in mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, chronic pain, women’s health, and relationship issues. Office hours are Tuesday–Thursday, 10 AM–5 PM EST. If you don’t see a time that works or you’re feeling unsure about getting started, please feel free to reach out. I’m happy to answer any questions and would love to connect to see if we’re a good fit. You don’t have to do this alone — I’m here to support you.
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other in a safe and supportive space. We’ll explore what has brought you to therapy, talk through your hopes and goals, and begin to outline a path forward that feels right for you. You’re welcome to ask any questions—I'm here to support you every step of the way.
I deeply value the uniqueness of every individual and believe that therapy should be tailored to reflect that. No two treatment plans are ever the same in my practice. I take a collaborative approach, working closely with you to set meaningful goals and create a path forward that feels aligned. I only offer strategies or assignments with your full agreement—because your belief in the process matters. Most importantly, I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all.
I specialize in working with women and men navigating a variety of life challenges, including infertility, IVF, and chronic pain. My ideal client may be coping with anxiety, OCD, mood or personality disorders, or struggling with eating issues. I also work with individuals facing family and relationship conflicts, anger management concerns, or challenges related to career transitions or failure to launch. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about your next steps, I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space to explore your experiences and build practical coping skills.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. In CBT, clients work with their therapist to recognize unhelpful thinking habits, such as overgeneralizing or catastrophizing, and replace them with more balanced and realistic thoughts. The therapy also focuses on developing practical coping strategies and problem-solving skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges. Through this process, clients can gain greater self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, and build healthier ways of thinking and responding to life’s difficulties.
Culturally sensitive therapy recognizes and respects the unique cultural backgrounds, values, and experiences of each individual. This approach involves understanding how culture, race, ethnicity, and identity influence mental health and well-being. In culturally sensitive therapy, the therapist creates a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore how their cultural context impacts their experiences, relationships, and emotions. The therapist tailors interventions and strategies to align with the client’s cultural values and beliefs, fostering trust and promoting healing in a way that honors their identity. The goal is to support clients in navigating challenges while honoring their cultural perspectives and lived experiences
Experiential therapy focuses on helping individuals explore and express their emotions through direct, hands-on experiences. This approach often involves activities like role-playing, art, or guided imagery to access deeper feelings and memories that may be difficult to express verbally. By engaging with these techniques, clients can gain insights into unresolved issues, past traumas, or unprocessed emotions. The goal of experiential therapy is to foster emotional healing and self-awareness, allowing individuals to better understand their inner world, release emotional blockages, and create lasting change in their behavior and mindset.
Mindfulness-based therapy combines traditional therapeutic techniques with mindfulness practices to help individuals stay present and manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges. In this approach, clients learn to observe their thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations without judgment, allowing them to develop greater self-awareness and emotional regulation. Techniques like mindful breathing, body scans, and meditation are incorporated to promote relaxation and reduce reactivity. The goal of mindfulness-based therapy is to help clients cultivate a calm, focused mind, improve overall well-being, and break patterns of negative thinking, leading to a more balanced and mindful way of living.
