Hi, I’m Shari. With more than 26 years of experience as a licensed mental health counselor, I believe every person has inherent worth that exists beyond their struggles, diagnoses, or life circumstances. At the heart of my practice is a commitment to seeing people through mercy and grace, recognizing dignity beyond dysfunction, strength alongside suffering, and hope even in life's most difficult seasons. These principles shape how I understand each client's story and guide the therapeutic relationship we build together. I recognize that many of the ways people cope with anxiety, trauma, grief, or life's challenges began as creative ways to survive difficult circumstances. Rather than defining people by their symptoms or past experiences, I seek to understand their unique story, honor the resilience that has carried them this far, and help them build healthier patterns that support lasting healing and growth. I also believe spirituality is a source of meaning, hope, and resilience that is distinct from religious beliefs or practices. Whether you identify as religious, spiritual, both, or neither, I respect your values and will thoughtfully incorporate them into therapy only if they are important to you. My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and evidence-based. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, caregiver stress, chronic illness, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, my goal is to help you gain insight, build practical coping skills, and reconnect with your strengths so you can move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

I have over 18 years of professional counseling experience working with both children and adults. My undergraduate degree was earned at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and my graduate degree earned at the University of North Florida. Additionally, my counseling experience has included inpatient, outpatient, and crisis stabilization units within the Florida Department of Corrections. I also served as the mental health authority within medium to low-risk juvenile inpatient programs. My experience also includes working within community social service agencies and Medicaid programs. In my years of professional experience, I have found that Depressive and Anxiety Disorders are managed best using Psychotherapy. Whereas many clients may find it helpful to include Antidepressant/Antianxiety medications, it has been my experience that medications alone are less effective and are often supported by Counseling Intervention with a Professional Counselor.

I am caring, compassionate, and a very good listener. I am a Christian, wife of a Veteran, mother, and grandmother. My heritage is Caribbean-American. I grew up in South Florida with four sisters and two brothers. I was very independent at a very young age and willing to help out wherever. I am a musician starting with piano in elementary school, then clarinet in middle school, and bass clarinet and bassoon in high school. I love music and find it beneficial in every aspect of life. I decided to grow my family before pursuing a career. I decided to pursue a career in the mental health field because of a family member being diagnosed with a severe mental health disorder. I earned my AA in Psychology, then a dual degree in Psychology and Behavioral Science. After my undergrad, I went on to receive my master's in social work. I have worked with Veterans, homeless, hospice, young adults, children, elders, couples and individuals with severe mental health diagnoses. In my pursuit to help my family member, I became even more passionate about mental health and reducing the negative stigma attached to it. This passion I share with everyone I encounter.

I am someone who likes to make a difference. I love helping people, and love seeing the changes client's can make when they know the path through. My therapeutic approach is inspired by a profound message from one of my favorite therapists: “You may feel like you're in the desert right now, but I will walk beside you. I won't pull you or push you. When you're tired, we'll rest. When you're scared, I'll stand with you. When you're sad, I'll sit with you. Hello and thanks for stopping by. Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted? Maybe you find yourself overthinking your decisions, struggling to set boundaries, or repeating relationship patterns that leave you questioning yourself. You know that you want something different but you're unsure how to move forward. Whatever you're experiencing, you don't have to face it alone. I helped women understand how past experiences and relationship patterns may be showing up in their lives today. Imagine moving through your days with greater calm and clarity. Imagine feeling more confident in your decisions, more connected to yourself, and more comfortable showing up as your authentic self. Healing does not mean forgetting what happened or moving through it alone, it means having the support and tools to understand your experiences and create a new path forward. You don't have to navigate your healing journey by yourself. I am Kayla Crawford, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I am here to support you as you move from simply managing what you've been through toward greater understanding, healing, and meaningful change. I have a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology. I come to you with over 18 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked in outpatient and inpatient settings with at risk youth and families. I also worked alongside law enforcement during crisis to assist youth who struggled with suicidal ideations. My work is trauma informed, relational, somatic, and whole person focused. I recognize that you may intellectually understand your story but the body and your nervous system is still responding as if you are in the past.

I’m a therapist who helps you remember who you are beneath the self-doubt, survival patterns, and old stories. My approach is compassionate, intuitive, and rooted in the belief that healing happens when we reconnect with the parts of ourselves we’ve had to hide or silence—especially the inner child. I work at the intersection of self-worth, spirituality, and soul-aligned growth, supporting clients in finding clarity, confidence, and deeper meaning. I specialize in working with those who feel like they’ve spent a lifetime holding it all together while feeling unseen or disconnected on the inside. Many of my clients are navigating transitions—whether it’s stepping into adulthood, breaking generational cycles, leaving behind people-pleasing, or exploring who they are beyond roles and expectations. If you’ve ever felt like you're constantly performing, second-guessing yourself, or longing to feel safe in your truth, you’re not alone. In our work together, I draw from evidence-based therapies like Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, and somatic practices, while also incorporating space for spiritual exploration, ancestral healing, and intuitive insight. I honor each client’s cultural, emotional, and energetic experiences and believe in co-creating a space where all parts of you are welcome. This is more than just symptom management—it’s about coming home to yourself. I’m here to walk with you as you reclaim your voice, reconnect with your purpose, and live more fully in alignment with who you truly are—mind, body, and spirit.

I am a graduate of Virginia Union University with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and I later went on to receive my Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health from Howard University. Throughout my studies, my practicum experience consisted of working with the Maryland Truancy Court Reduction Program and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. I received post-graduate, intensive training at the Immigration Evaluation Training Center in the area of extreme hardship waivers, domestic violence (VAWA) & asylum immigration evaluations in Virginia and Washington, DC. Thereafter, I later went on to work in a variety of settings that have afforded me the opportunity to diversify my work and skill set with different populations and individual needs. This includes addiction, foster care & adoption, community support and residential treatment. My experience has afforded me the opportunity to learn from and support individuals who struggle with everyday life stressors, those that are impacted by mild, moderate, severe and chronic mental illness. My background includes adolescents, young adults, adults, and geriatrics who are struggling with mental health challenges. In 2017 I began working in leadership at Gateway Homes, Inc. where I gained expertise with serving individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. My practice opened in 2020 and I continue to provide direct services to individuals in the community who are struggling with different social, emotional and behavioral issues that are causing discomfort.

I've learned that the people who seem strongest are often carrying the heaviest burdens, and too often, capable people mistake surviving for living. Whether your goal is to leave work at work, sleep through the night, stop feeling guilty for resting, or simply feel like yourself again, we'll work together to help you reconnect with the person beneath all the responsibility. Because the people everyone depends on deserve someone they can depend on, too.

I'm a psychotherapist with 35-plus years of experience. After completing training in clinical social work and psychology at the University of Maryland (M.S.W., 1988) and Saybrook Institute (Ph.D., 1991), I began practicing as a family, couples and individual therapist. I have hosted on radio/podcasts, have written two books and thousands of self-help articles in my "Life's a Beach" column for nationwide Gannett media. I love working with clients in the here-and-now, and finding solutions to move forward with life. My primary goal is to help you help yourself. I will guide and coach you, not tell you what to do. Diagnostic labels are useful at times, but you are not your labels. I'm your thinking partner: We'll reason and think our way to what makes sense together.

I have been a therapist for 14 years, working virtually with teens and adults for the last 7 years. I enjoy meeting clients where they are and offering a warm and safe place to explore who they are and who they want to be. My background is in communication sciences and that has helped drive who I am as a therapist. I understand that all behavior is communicative and sometimes we need help understanding what it is we are trying to communicate to ourselves and others.

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida with over ten years of professional experience working primarily with clients who have experienced trauma or who have PTSD. I believe that everyone can benefit from counseling. We all have situations and phases of our lives where it's helpful to have a neutral sounding board. We can all benefit from having a person who listens and really hears what we're saying and a place we feel safe to say anything at all without fear of judgment. Whether you are struggling with a long-term problem or you're trying to navigate a new situation, I can provide the space and support you need as we work together toward your goals.

I predominantly work with young men struggling with social anxiety disorder. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, poor self-worth, and poor self-confidence. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. They are labeled by others as shy, quiet, or introverted. This scenario described myself for much of my life which gives me lived experience to better able to assist you. I help individuals combat their social fears and begin to live a rich and fulfilling life. I do this through cognitive behavioral therapy techniques primarily but also integrate solution-focused therapy, assertiveness training, exposure therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Whether you're a teen struggling to make friends and socialize or you are an adult unable to speak up at work meetings or unable to ask someone out on a date, I'm here for you! Seeking therapy can be frightening but I want to assure you that you will be most welcome if you take that leap of faith!
