Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will focus on getting to know you, understanding what brought you to therapy, and discussing your goals for treatment. Building rapport and developing a strong therapeutic relationship are of utmost importance throughout this process. Developing trust and becoming comfortable with therapy looks different for everyone, and I am here to support you through any challenges, concerns, or hesitations you may have along the way. The first session is also an opportunity for you to get to know me and determine whether I am the right fit for your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Every individual's needs in therapy are different, and part of our work together is identifying the style and approach that best supports you. Therapy is also an opportunity to develop greater self-awareness and discover what tools, strategies, and interventions are most effective for your growth and healing. As a professional who also seeks support from other professionals, I understand firsthand the value of having someone with an objective perspective. It can be life-changing to have a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be interfering with your well-being. Therapy provides an opportunity to gain insight, work through challenges, and develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving that are more aligned with your values, goals, and the life you want to create.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Learning to navigate challenging thoughts and feelings is at the forefront of how we interact with ourselves, others and the world. My goal is to help you develop psychological flexibility through increasing awareness of unhelpful thoughts and feelings, and learning ways to defuse rather than practicing avoidance when faced with discomfort. The goal is to use tools such as mindfulness, cognitive defusion, values clarification to assist in developing goals that align with our values.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of the primary methods i use with clients as it is helpful in identifying and recognizing negative / distorted thought patterns, learn ways of challenging unhelpful beliefs and develop more balanced and realistic ways of thinking that will promote emotional wellbeing. Techniques that will be commonly discussed and explored are cognitive distortions and behavioral activation Our core beliefs shape the way we interact with ourselves, others and the world, developing an awareness of our core beliefs and how they influence the way we think, feel and interact is crucial in navigating beliefs that no longer serve us and hinder us from growing and living meaningful lives.
