Love and work are essential to a meaningful life. Relationships with others define experience and work gives a sense of purpose. Disturbance in these affect well being and contribute to an overwhelmed response leading to collapse. As trauma is relational so is recovery and healing. Having the right therapeutic alliance is a key element and requires, attunement and constistency.  James has over 20 years of clinical experience treating diverse individuals in a variety of settings. As a Mind-Body-Awareness trained therapist, he works with adults having problems with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. In addition to having a graduate degree in Social Work from San Jose State University; he also attended years of practicum training from the following: Certification in Somatic Experiencing from SE Trauma Institute; Sierra Institute for Contemporary Gestalt Training; Professional Training in Hakomi Mindfulness-Based Experiential Psychotherapy Santa Cruz; iRest Integrative Restoration, an evidence informed meditation practice for trauma; Certification in Satyananda Yoga Nidra; and Completion of 500 hours of Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training.

I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I've been practicing 10+ years. I'm licensed to practice in the State of California - LPCC 8014. I began my career in Chicago. I am a psychotherapist, with a trained as a clinical psychologist with a comprehensive foundation in evidenced based practices, research, and teaching.   Working with individuals, groups, couples, and families, I’ve primarily practiced in nonprofit and community based settings. I've helped college students, survivors of violence, individuals, couples, and families with complex trauma (childhood, sexual, intimate, workplace, or spiritual), LGBTQ identities, persons at intersections of identity and path, those with clinical diagnoses, persons wanting to heal, others wanting growth. I’ve mainly worked with adults, though I have treated individuals 12 years and older. One of the greatest honors has been to earn my clients’ trust. I fundamentally believe this work is both a profession, and also a calling, a blend of art and science.    As to how I practice, I am compelled by depth psychology, having completed more extensive psychodynamic training (Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis). I also have completed the Emotion Focused Therapy Externship with Sue Johnson herself.  Other experiences:  After college, I was an Americorps volunteer at Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. I also worked with Asian and African refugees in Chicago before beginning my doctoral studies. I also have been a consultant, trainer, and speaker, addressing mental health and diversity in the workplace. I also lead people operations for a local nonprofit.   I enjoy: Audible; podcasts: We Can Do Hard Things, Esther Perel's Where Should We Begin?, and Danielle LaPorte's With Love, Danielle; drives in the desert; Balboa Park; Laguna' Beach's art scene; African drumming; poetry (Andrea Gibson); a good nap.

From a young age, I’ve been drawn to people—their stories, their emotions, and the quiet places where they carry their pain. After experiencing my own seasons of grief and change, I realized how powerful it can be to have someone walk beside you through it. Becoming a therapist felt less like a decision and more like a calling to offer the support I once needed myself. Hi there! Do you ever feel pulled in a million directions? Maybe it's hard to finish tasks, or you're struggling with relationships, work, or your health, and being kind to yourself feels impossible. You're not alone, and you don't have to figure it out by yourself. My goal is to walk alongside you as you face life's challenges, discover your strengths, and move toward real change, healing, and a greater sense of well-being. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than 14 years of experience, and I help people with depression, anxiety, and addiction. I'm speak fluently three languages, English, Farsi, and Pashto. I've traveled across Europe and lived in Asia and South America, and those experiences taught me how much a person's background and life story shape the way they think and feel. I bring that understanding into every session. Clients often describe me as thoughtful, caring, creative, and reliable, with a calm and steady presence. I take a relaxed approach to therapy, and you lead the way. In our first session, we'll start with a quick hello and get to know each other. Then we'll talk about a few of the challenges you're facing. I'll ask open questions and listen closely so I can understand what matters most to you. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. Sometimes it takes a few sessions to understand what is really going on underneath and that's perfectly okay.

My style is warm, curious, engaged, and down-to-earth. I’m not the kind of therapist who sits silently and occasionally asks, “How does that make you feel?” I’ll be right there with you—asking questions, noticing patterns, offering perspective, and sometimes bringing humor into the room when it feels right. I work especially well with thoughtful, self-aware people who have done a lot of thinking about themselves but still find themselves caught in patterns they can’t quite think their way out of. You may be successful and capable on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship patterns, or a persistent sense that something is missing. I also work with people who feel disconnected—from their emotions, their relationships, or even themselves. Sometimes that disconnection developed for very good reasons. If you learned early in life to stay in control, rely on yourself, push feelings aside, or keep others at a distance, those strategies may have helped you survive difficult experiences but now leave you feeling stuck or alone. My approach is grounded largely in Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, mindfulness, and somatic work. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we get curious about what happened, what you learned to do to survive or belong, and what different parts of you may still be trying to protect. Our work is about more than understanding yourself. It’s about experiencing yourself differently—with more compassion, more choice, deeper connection, and less internal noise.

Hello! My name is Dana Ferry, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist. I have found for myself an incredible benefit in scientifically proven healing therapies such as meditation and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma. My approach to therapy integrates therapeutic options to meet the client where they are. This is why I went back to school, so I could study for myself the science of healing and help others heal as well. I've been an EMDRIA certified EMDR therapist since 2023.

Welcome, I am so glad you are here! Taking the first step toward therapy requires immense courage, and I want you to know right from the start that you are in the right place, and you do not have to go through this alone. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California, I bring over 10 years of heartfelt experience across a variety of settings. I earned my Master’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton, and have had the absolute privilege of walking alongside people of all ages and walks of life. Over the last decade, I have helped individuals navigate anxiety and depression, the deep pain of loss and grief, the uncertainty of major life transitions, and the heavy exhaustion of burnout. I also work closely with those untangling the complexities of past trauma, navigating relationship dynamics, and quieting the critical inner voice to build genuine self-esteem. Whatever challenges you are facing, we will work hand-in-hand to help you find clarity, reclaim your story, and discover your inner strength. I want this to be a safe space where you unpack your story whenever you're ready. Your cultural background, social justice concerns, and the unique history that shapes who you are matters in this journey. I also warmly welcome the integration of spirituality and faith for anyone who wishes to weave those meaningful pieces into their healing journey. You get to show up exactly as you are today, knowing that all of you is safe and welcome. If you feel ready to take that next step, I invite you to schedule a session.
