Hi there, I primarily work in substance use recovery (abstinence and harm reduction) and trauma recovery. I also have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, and sleep issues/insomnia. My treatment orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy concepts, however the foundation of my early training was Psychodynamic. I have been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation), and Seeking Safety for trauma treatment. When treating anxiety, I take a CBT, or exposure approach with skill-building. For depression I utilize CBT concepts, or behavioral activation with skill-building. For sleep issues, I work with the CBT for insomnia treatment model. These are just a few examples of treatment approaches I utilize. I am relational focused, which to me means finding a plan that works best for you, practicing cultural humility and not trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. I look forward to working with you.

I utilize a positive theoretical orientation which assumes that all individuals possess an innate desire for well-balanced emotional/mental health. I believe a person enters therapy with a strong wish, whether conscious or unconscious, to overcome obstacles and free themselves from constraints that are holding them back. I find that everyone needs a slightly different approach to accomplish these goals, so I adjust in technique for each specific challenge. I truly enjoy the experience of guiding my clients through this process and consider it a privilege to play such an important role in a person's life. “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Meeting life’s difficulties alone can be overwhelming. Together lets discover the beauty and purpose of our inner struggles. By doing so as a team we can share the burden of past failures and shed the pain that paves the way for our future successes. Obstacles in our path are only there to make us stronger. Greetings, Life can be confusing, relationships can be stressful, and the present can make you feel anxious or depressed. Sometimes a painful past can surface into the moment, especially when situations are difficult or when you are experiencing major change. During these periods your mood and thoughts can be affected in negative ways. When you are feeling alone, disconnected, or confused, talking things through can make all the difference. I work with anyone struggling to find joy, peace, and fulfillment. I offer a safe, inviting space for you to share thoughts and feelings, to vent, to feel heard, and to reorient to meaning. Please allow me to assist you finding relief and clarity. I will meet you where you are at and welcome you. I address healing on multiple levels of the body-mind connection with a focus on the notion that caring about something or someone along with experiencing meaning can counterbalance the effects of hurt, a disturbing past, or a present stressful situation or transition. I have more than 20 years of experience helping clients navigate major change and transition, gain closure, and create new beginnings. I apply interventions from a mind-body-being perspective and assess current life stressors to distinguish between situational mood and thought disturbances from those enduring and a consequence of previous hurt or trauma.

We are more than conquerors! You already have the capability to make changes that help accomplish your goals, experience healing, and combat the most difficult symptoms. However, we were never meant to go it alone. The therapeutic relationship is a partnership—it is teamwork. It is joining forces with one another. One of the greatest attributes I can offer in this alliance is empathy. Non-judgmental exploration will afford the understanding necessary to determine what is hindering satisfaction. I am Kimberly Jones: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have over 10 years of experience in offering psychotherapy to all ages. My expertise is couple’s therapy encompassing marriage and relationships. You will be provided a safe space to bring your most complex matters as I am confident in supporting honest dialogue. In addition, mediation during difficult discussions and understanding the anatomy of an affair's impact on both partners can also be provided. I would assist in managing the threat of divorce, post-separation, and co-parenting. In the healing pursuit, individuals will experience neutrality, intimacy repair, trust building, improved communication, and conflict resolution. These are all skills necessary to strengthen the relationship and introduce a new way of seeing life together.

Welcome - I'm glad you're here. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker inspiring hope and facilitating change in the lives of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. For over 18 years, I have provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families in California. A Los Angeles native, in 2007 I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California. My path to becoming a person-centered therapist has been shaped by a deep belief in the healing power of human connection. From early on, I was drawn to listening—to really hearing people—and witnessing the strength that can emerge when someone feels truly understood. That belief led me to social work, where I found a natural alignment with the values of empathy, dignity, and respect for each person’s lived experience. Through my training and clinical work, I was especially moved by the person-centered approach, which sees the client not as a problem to be fixed, but as a whole person with the capacity for growth, insight, and change. Embracing this approach has transformed the way I see the therapeutic relationship: not as a space where I give answers, but one where I hold space—with care, compassion, and authenticity—so clients can explore, heal, and move forward on their own terms. Over time, I’ve continued to grow both personally and professionally, integrating complementary tools like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy while always staying grounded in the person-centered core. It’s a privilege to walk alongside my clients, to witness their resilience, and to be a steady presence as they reconnect with their strengths, values, and goals. Being a therapist isn’t just what I do—it’s part of who I am.

My name is Joy Burgner. I have been licensed in California since 2011. Several life experiences have led me to adopt a completely nonjudgmental stance in treating clients, and my open-minded approach helps me form a strong therapeutic alliance. This creates a safe space where clients feel free to express, explore, and process the life events, thoughts, and feelings that have caused emotional distress. I have spent the majority of my career treating adolescents in the juvenile justice system and teenagers in foster care who were placed in group homes. I also served on a mobile response team, assessing clients of all ages for homicide and suicide risk in a variety of settings. I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
