New to Grow
I have been in the psychology field for over 20 years now. I love what I do and helping every client become successful. The relationship between the client(s) and myself is important in achieving the goals we set together. How our past experiences have influenced our current lives is a key issue. I feel that support systems in our daily lives are important to examine. The issues of separation, loss, freedom, dependence and independence are crucial to examine as one leaves home and parental influences. I work with individuals, couples, teens and families. Every session is different because every client is different, as are their problems. I'll encourage you to talk and explore, in a structured way, your feelings and experiences. Whatever the technique or clinical approach, psychotherapy is not a magical cure, it is a process to help you find the capacity for improvement within yourself. Psychotherapy aims to help you gain insight into your difficulties or distress and enable you to find more appropriate ways of coping or bring about changes in your thinking and behavior. Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and events, sometimes from childhood, in a structured way to help you do it safely.
In your first session I will introduce my self and tell you a little about me so its a little more comfortable for you. Then I will ask you to share a little about you and why you are there. My greatest strengths as a therapist are that I really listen and have a conversations with my clients and I really work hard to create the best tools for each client that I will use to help you as much as possible. Therapy is a process and I walk you through that process each and every session.
I love clients who are ready and willing to put the work in. No matter what age they are you get out of therapy what you put in. My dream clients are those who show up and are open and honest about what they are going through. That is the best way I can help. If I have all of the information or most, I can do everything in my power to help them grow.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used CBT my entire career. I believe that this is the most effective treatment with the situation thats happening at the moment as well as going through past issues.
