Hi! I'm Mike, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from AZ. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile! I have many years of experience helping individuals heal from both substance use and mental health challenges. I have worked in community mental health and been involved in the 12-step community for many years. Prior to working in mental health, I had a career in accounting. I have a Biblical worldview that inspires and guides me in my work. I have been married since 1997 and raised 4 children. I also have 4 stepchildren, and 14 grandchildren. Boston is my hometown, but I have been living in AZ since 2015. I am a fan of the Patriots, the Celtics, and the Red Sox. I also like Marvel, Rocky and Star Trek movies. Don't be surprised if I throw in an occasional film quote in our sessions! I would love to help you achieve your treatment and/or life goals. I am available for therapy Monday-Thursday 8 AM - 8 PM, and Friday and Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM. If you believe that my skills, experience and approach would benefit you, I would love to hear from you!

Hello! Congratulations on taking this step toward living a happier and more meaningful life! It takes courage! I received a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1999 at Auburn University in Alabama and have been providing care ever since. I have worked as a full-time clinician, mentored and provided clinical supervision to new professionals and also oversaw a community behavioral health center for more than a decade as the clinical director. Currently, my full-time job is providing military and family life counseling at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. I also have this small private practice. An important goal of mine is to help you feel comfortable and confident that counseling is a safe place. I operate from a position of compassion and empathy. Together we work through the issues you are struggling with. I do not take the stance that I'm the expert on your life but instead will guide you through the change process at your own pace and readiness.

Hello, Thank you for reviewing my profile. Briefly; I am Licensed Naturopathic Doctor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor I work with adult professional women dealing with anxiety, depression, past unresolved trauma, grief, stress and relationship issues. My philosophy is that life is not meant to live alone and in isolation. We need positive human beings to 'see' us and bear witness to our lives in order for us to become fully human. We need meaningful experiences to help us navigate this journey called life. My training as a Naturopathic Doctor affords me a lens to also consider and integrate your physical health, diet & lifestyle practices for your overall well-being. So, if you are tired of being tired, anxious, sad, depressed and you're just going through the motions, feeling stuck in a life that drains you; AND you are willing to do the work to get well, then you need skilled, compassionate support to get you unstuck and get your life back on track to experience purposeful living. It is here where our paths intersect. It is my intention that you to "prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers" 3 John 2.

Life is difficult. We labor at often unsatisfying occupations and manage only to keep our heads above water. Romantic relationships deliver as much heartbreak as happiness. We suffer setbacks, as do those we love. The few pleasures we encounter offer only temporary respite. Ultimately, as the Buddha reminds us, we are all overtaken by old age, sickness, and death. Amidst these realities, the modern psychopharmaceutical attempt to address natural reactions to the human condition such as anxiety and depression by dispensing medication seems like the proverbial band aid solution. What is needed is surgery for the soul. World wisdom traditions such as Stoicism and Buddhism and philosophies such as Existentialism offer an alternative (and complementary) healing pathway, and many of their insights have been integrated into modern psychotherapeutic interventions. As a philosopher and psychotherapist, I combine ancient insight with evidenced-based practices such as ACT and CBT.

Since 2012, I have worked with a variety of clients dealing with circumstances that are unique to their lives. Life can be complicated and having someone in your corner can ease fears and worries while allowing for growth and healing. My passion as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor is working with individuals and couples who have experienced trauma and difficult times. As a wife, mom, grandmother, and dog mom, I also enjoy assisting family and friends in reaching their goals. I will be here to encourage you, support you and validate you. I know making the decision to come to therapy can be difficult, scary and leave you feeling vulnerable but taking that first step is the key to unlocking the door towards becoming your best self. You are the true expert of yourself and often just need additional encouragement to identify and explore areas that are no longer working.  Vulnerability, shame, and guilt can prevent you from seeking the help and support you need to find solace in your head, heart and life. I am a daughter of Veteran and wife of a fire fighter. I know personally the stigmas and stressors that come along with seeking treatment. I have a deep understanding and love of the firefighting, EMT, and paramedic communities. Break those chains that keep you from seeking, happiness, forgiveness, healing, and serenity. One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Having a good grasp of the very real issues with which first responders must face and handle on a daily basis I will help you navigate the issues and memories that haunt you and find real, lasting solutions for long term healing. I promise I won't bite, but I am a loud Bostonian haha!  Allow me to walk and guide you on your path to uncovering and rediscovering who you are and what you already know but struggling to see.

Hi there! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), working out of Arizona. I received my master's degree from a CACREP Accredited Program at Capella University. I have been working in a rural community, providing behavioral health services to youth, families and adults for the past 9 years and working under Independent Licensure since 2023. I have a passion for helping people improve their lives, relationships and their sense of self. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, addiction, self-esteem, life challenges, past trauma, and relationships. I have a passion for being outdoors, enjoying camping, off-roading, boating, motorsports and going to the Rodeo. When I am not serving clients, I am playing with my dogs, spending time with close friends and family and cooking up a delicious meal (from a recipe that I probably found on Pinterest).

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Arizona rather than a city like Phoenix?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Arizona from Tucson to Mesa! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Arizona.

Will my therapist take United Medical Resources?

Yes! If you use United Medical Resources you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have United Medical Resources you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
