Hi! I'm Mike, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from AZ. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile! I have many years of experience helping individuals heal from both substance use and mental health challenges. I have worked in community mental health and been involved in the 12-step community for many years. Prior to working in mental health, I had a career in accounting. I have a Biblical worldview that inspires and guides me in my work. I have been married since 1997 and raised 4 children. I also have 4 stepchildren, and 14 grandchildren. Boston is my hometown, but I have been living in AZ since 2015. I am a fan of the Patriots, the Celtics, and the Red Sox. I also like Marvel, Rocky and Star Trek movies. Don't be surprised if I throw in an occasional film quote in our sessions! I would love to help you achieve your treatment and/or life goals. In addition to determining the reason you are here in counseling and completing an intake questionnaire, my priorities during the first session is to make a connection with you and to give you hope. In subsequent sessions I will walk along side of you in an authentic, casual, relaxed, direct and educational style. I also use my sense of humor when appropriate.
My greatest strengths include Biblical worldview, integrity, compassion, and ability to connect with people. I am also solution focused and have insight and awareness into people and situations.
I work best with people that have insecure attachment style issues, addiction issues, substance abuse, i.e. alcohol and/or drugs, family/relational issues, depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, employment issues/conflicts, career issues, self-esteem and boundary issues. Also, I can help people with spiritual abuse/trauma. People who are ready to do the work, are willing to put in the effort and are openminded and ready for change.
