Hi! I'm Mike, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from AZ. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile! I have many years of experience helping individuals heal from both substance use and mental health challenges. I have worked in community mental health and been involved in the 12-step community for many years. Prior to working in mental health, I had a career in accounting. I have a Biblical worldview that inspires and guides me in my work. I have been married since 1997 and raised 4 children. I also have 4 stepchildren, and 14 grandchildren. Boston is my hometown, but I have been living in AZ since 2015. I am a fan of the Patriots, the Celtics, and the Red Sox. I also like Marvel, Rocky and Star Trek movies. Don't be surprised if I throw in an occasional film quote in our sessions! I would love to help you achieve your treatment and/or life goals. I am available for therapy Monday-Thursday 8 AM - 8 PM, and Friday and Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM. If you believe that my skills, experience and approach would benefit you, I would love to hear from you!

Hello, Thank you for reviewing my profile. Briefly; I am Licensed Naturopathic Doctor, a Licensed Professional cCounselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor I work with adult professional women dealing with anxiety, depression, past unresolved trauma, grief, stress and relationship issues. My philosophy is that life is not meant to live alone and in isolation. We need positive human beings to 'see' us and bear witness to our lives in order for us to become fully human. We need meaningful experiences to help us navigate this journey called life. My training as a Naturopathic Doctor affords me a lens to also consider and integrate your physical health, diet & lifestyle practices for your overall well-being. So, if you are tired of being tired, anxious, sad, depressed, going through the motions and feel stuck in chaotic relationships and confusion that drains you; AND you are willing to do the work to get well, then you need skilled, compassionate support to get you unstuck and get your life back on track to experience purposeful living. It is here where our paths intersect. It is my intention that you to 'prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers' 3 John 2.

Life is difficult. We labor at often unsatisfying occupations and manage only to keep our heads above water. Romantic relationships deliver as much heartbreak as happiness. We suffer setbacks, as do those we love. The few pleasures we encounter offer only temporary respite. Ultimately, as the Buddha reminds us, we are all overtaken by old age, sickness, and death. Amidst these realities, the modern psychopharmaceutical attempt to address natural reactions to the human condition such as anxiety and depression by dispensing medication seems like the proverbial band aid solution. What is needed is surgery for the soul. World wisdom traditions such as Stoicism and Buddhism and philosophies such as Existentialism offer an alternative (and complementary) healing pathway, and many of their insights have been integrated into modern psychotherapeutic interventions. As a philosopher and psychotherapist, I combine ancient insight with evidenced-based practices such as ACT and CBT.

If you can read this, you made the first step. Congratulations. Seeking therapy is hard. Most people delay and tell themselves that whatever they are experiencing must be the way life is. Chances are if you have reached the point to begin exploring therapy, counseling can help make your life better. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years. In that time I have worked with men, women, teens, and families on a wide variety of issues. Sometimes that work simply involved helping them through a particular incident or life change that overwhelmed them. Other times our work together centered around longstanding issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. I believe that you cannot laugh without a combination of insight and relief. You can expect some humor in most sessions. In addition to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, I also offer a fourth-wave therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have found this technique to be highly effective in helping people with trauma and or anxiety. Our minds and bodies are connected. Anyone who has experienced a tight neck and shoulders or an upset stomach when they were stressed knows this. EFT uses acupressure (done by the client) and cognitive interventions to provide fast and effective relief. With over 20 years of clinical experience, I am ready to help you through the challenges you are facing. In addition to counseling, I also provide vocational testing, coaching, and consulting. I provide both Christian and secular counseling depending on the needs of my clients.

I have lived a long and colorful life. Like everyone else, I've made good and bad choices and learned from each. I have 22+ years experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My role is to offer another perspective, a way to see life more fully and function better, no more, no less. I don't pretend to have all the answers but only one slice of wisdom. I just share what can help someone. Some people are not yet ready to be helped. Yet for those who are feeling lost on life's journey and are willing to listen and learn, I'm here to assist. My life work can be summed up in three words, "offering people hope. " "Wouldn't take nothin' for my journey now." - Maya Angelou "The past is gone, and there is left only a blessing." - Kahlil Gibran "Be true to yourself, and you will be false to no one else." - William Shakespeare "How very lucky are we, for just a moment to be, part of life's eternal rhyme." I still love what I do after 26 years. I have extensive experience in Christian Counseling, Blended Families, Couples, Addiction, PTSD, Trauma, Sex-Offenders, and Obsessive-Compulsive behaviors. I have worked with a variety of clients ranging from ages 7 to 89, but currently am only working with adults. I am independently licensed in 3 different states as a Marriage and Family Therapist and independently licensed in 2 states as an Addiction Counselor. I believe everyone has a "gift," something that they are called to do, and Counseling is mine. I care about my clients and have the innate ability to "zone" in on what is going on with them. I use Emotional Focus Therapy, Strength-Based, Trauma-Informed, Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but it really depends on the clients I am seeing. I admire anyone who wants to make a change and is willing to reach out and ask for help. I am here for you if you are that person. **** It's very important to remember to provide a 24 hour notice or a minimum of 2 hours (if an emergency comes up) notice if you are not going to make your session so that you are not charged a no-show fee. Although the appointment planner may allow it, please do not schedule appointments more than 2 weeks out. My later times are limited and I would like all my clients to have a chance to one of these slots, plus it cuts back on no-shows since we do not know if we will be able to make an appointment that far in advance. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi, my name is Mark. Thank you for considering me as your therapist. It would be my pleasure to get to work with you! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist; that means that not only do I work with individuals who experience all kinds of mental health challenges, but I also specialize in systemic, or relational therapy - working with couples, families & groups. I am a Presidential Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. If you want your faith included in your therapy, please let me know; your sessions will be as "spiritual" as you'd like, and no more. I have been providing therapy and counseling since 2016, and most recently worked as the therapy manager for a clinic that has four locations. Though I have worked with all populations (youngest 5 years old and oldest 94), young kids have trouble sitting still in front of a camera. Children under the age of 15 would be better served in an office setting, in my opinion. I have been with my amazing wife for over 35 years now, and have two wonderful adult children. I enjoy sports, music and all kinds of "outdoorzie" stuff. I most of all just enjoy time with my family. Most of my clients profess to sincerely enjoy working with me; I tend to connect with my clients on a deeper level, and in a more meaningful way, than some other therapists. Many say that they or their children work better with me than any other therapist, counselor or doctor they've experienced. I am humbled and immensely grateful for their kind words. I offer my clients a soft place to fall in their hurts and struggles while providing them a firm place to stand in their healing and growth. Always, in a judgment-free way.

I have been supporting individuals just like you for over 12 years. I am committed to helping people learn how to live their BEST LIVES! My practice focuses on targeting ANYTHING that stands in your way of functioning as your BEST self. I believe in taking a holistic and collaborative approach. This means we work together, as a team to improve your whole life-not just your mental or emotional health. I am a seeker, so I am ALWAYS looking for new ways through research, evidence-based practices, and new educational opportunities to be of service to those looking for support. The face of someone who looks for support... looks like mine. Sometimes it's struggling with anxiety or depression. Or maybe diabetes and the toll the management of the disease takes on your life. It could also look like a teen looking for direction at school or navigating the world into young adulthood. Or a couple on the brink of calling it quits because of financial stress. It could look like someone who has lost their job or home and turned to Alcohol or something else to ease the pain. Or someone who just can't shake things they may or may not label as TRAUMA in their lives. More important than any of these situations, is the question: HOW DO WE REGAIN CONTROL OVER OUR HAPPINESS AND OUR LIVES? This is precisely what our goal is- find a plan to answer this question. There are multiple ways we can go about finding this answer, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EFT (TAPPING) EMDR, Mindfulness-based modalities, Motivational Interviewing and, more. If you are interested in discovering which method will be effective for us to use, please schedule an appointment and we will get started laying the path together!

My name is Elizabeth and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the states of Texas and Arizona. I am also a certified school counselor and transitioned to full-time mental health counseling after working as a high school counselor. I have been working as a counselor for 10 years, primarily in the school setting. I helped my students with issues such as family problems, academic struggles, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, ADHD, autism, LGBT-issues, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and suicidal ideation. Before working as a counselor, I was an elementary teacher for 6 years. I have experience working with adults and adolescents. I love seeing my clients understand themselves better and improve their mental health. I feel comfortable counseling people from a variety of backgrounds, especially those whose backgrounds are different than my own. My entire professional career has been spent with a primarily Hispanic population, but I am comfortable with other cultures, as well. I am a big fan of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Solutions-focused therapy, but I try to cater my counseling to each client, so I often incorporate different counseling philosophies as needed. I believe my clients are the experts on their own lives and I want to work with them to improve their contentment, coping skills, and mental health. I believe it is important and beneficial to have a nonjudgmental, unbiased person to talk to. This is one of the best parts of counseling. I often use humor to lighten the mood when counseling. I find this helps grow my relationships with my clients. Congratulations on making the first step towards getting help. I would love to work with you.

Hi! My name is Ruthie. I am from the great state of Texas (Texans are always proud of being from Texas for some reason!). I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and the University of Mobile with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I approach our time together with integrating Christian, biblically, faith-based principles along with clinical treatment approaches and techniques tailored for you. I'm a narrative therapist at heart, which means we all have a story of our lives, and in the sharing of our story, we discover possible meaning, insights, healing, and growth. It is my goal to create an inviting, warm, safe place for you to share that story, and we can discover together how the Lord wants to bring healing and hope. It is my hope that people will take away from sessions feeling supported, cared for, listened to, not alone, comforted, encouraged, and with a spark of faith that it is ok to have the courage to hope again.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Arizona rather than a city like Phoenix?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Arizona from Tucson to Mesa! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Arizona.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Spirituality?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Spirituality, is filtering therapists in Arizona that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
