I’m a competitive and avid surfer, a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and a father to two incredible daughters who continue to inspire me every day. My life experiences—both in and out of the water—have deeply shaped my perspective as a therapist. The discipline, resilience, adaptability, and appreciation for living in the moment I developed through my military service and surfing inform my therapeutic work, especially in the areas of sport and performance psychology. No matter sport performance or not, I’m passionate about helping others tap into their potential, overcome internal barriers, and find balance for well-being. My interest in psychotherapeutics stems from a deep curiosity about the human mind and a genuine desire to support people through their unique challenges. Whether I’m in the therapy room or catching waves, I bring presence, passion, and a commitment to growth—for myself and for those I work with.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll begin with some brief introductions and then explore the specific challenges you’re currently facing. This conversation will help me understand your unique needs and allow us to begin shaping a personalized plan to guide our work in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to show up with authenticity and genuine presence in every session. I believe that creating a space where clients feel truly seen and accepted is essential for meaningful growth. I approach therapy with cultural sensitivity and a deep respect for each person’s unique background, values, and lived experience—recognizing that healing must be rooted in an understanding of the whole individual. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I adapt my methods to meet each client where they are. Most importantly, I truly enjoy this work. Being part of someone’s journey toward healing, clarity, and empowerment is an incredible privilege, and that passion drives me to give my best every time I sit down with a client.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to serve clients who are navigating life’s challenges and are ready to do the deeper work of gaining insight and creating meaningful behavioral change. The individuals I work best with are those who are open to exploring both their struggles and their strengths—people who are not just seeking relief, but also growth, clarity, and purpose. Many of my clients appreciate a therapist who shows up authentically and brings their full self into the therapeutic relationship. They value honest dialogue, a sense of collaboration, and are often drawn to a more philosophical approach to therapy—willing to ask the big questions about meaning, identity, and what it means to live a fulfilling life. If you’re looking for a space where insight, curiosity, and real personal work are encouraged, I may be the right fit for your journey.

My treatment methods

Existential

Existential psychotherapy is a deeply humanistic approach that focuses on exploring the fundamental questions of existence—such as meaning, freedom, isolation, and mortality. For example, in my work as a therapist, I draw on the ideas of Viktor Frankl and Irvin Yalom, two key figures in existential thought. Frankl’s concept of “logotherapy” emphasizes the human drive to find meaning, even in the face of suffering, and I often help clients identify and connect with their own sense of purpose as a guiding force in their healing. Yalom’s work highlights the “givens” of existence and the importance of authentic therapeutic relationships in addressing existential anxiety. Inspired by both, I create a space where clients can explore their fears and longings with honesty and courage. Rather than viewing distress as something to be "fixed," I see it as a doorway into deeper self-understanding, personal freedom, and more meaningful living.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based approach designed to help children, adolescents, and adults process and heal from the effects of trauma. As a therapist, I use TF-CBT to gently guide clients through understanding how their trauma has impacted their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This approach blends cognitive-behavioral techniques with trauma-sensitive interventions, allowing clients to build coping skills, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and safely process difficult experiences. I tailor each phase of TF-CBT to meet the unique needs of the individual, focusing on trust, emotional regulation, and restoring a sense of safety and control. I truly enjoy this work and feel honored to support others through the healing process—witnessing their resilience grow and their sense of self strengthen is one of the most rewarding parts of my role as a therapist.

Eclectic

As an eclectic therapist, I draw from a wide range of therapeutic approaches to best meet the unique needs of each individual I work with. My practice is informed by—but not limited to—mindfulness, hypnosis, family systems, Rogerian (person-centered), psychodynamic, postmodern therapies, and sport and performance psychology. I believe that no single method fits every person or situation, so I integrate techniques and philosophies that align with each client’s goals, personality, and lived experience. Whether we’re using mindfulness to build present-moment awareness, exploring family dynamics to uncover patterns, applying psychodynamic insight to understand unconscious influences, or drawing from sport and performance psychology to enhance focus, motivation, and confidence, I tailor my approach to support healing and growth in a way that feels authentic and effective. This flexibility allows me to create a collaborative, dynamic therapeutic experience that honors each client’s individuality and evolving needs.
