I’m Dr. Andy Davis, a licensed psychologist with 18 years of experience in the mental health field. Thirteen of those years were spent serving in the U.S. Air Force, where I had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. My clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, PTSD, stress, grief, personality disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, and concerns related to sex and pornography addiction. As a sex-positive therapist, I provide a safe and affirming environment for clients to explore sensitive areas of their lives without fear of judgment. My therapeutic style is both solutions-focused and rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). I believe therapy should be proactive and goal-driven, helping clients not only gain insight but also develop strategies for change. Clients often describe me as direct and honest, while also compassionate and collaborative—I strive to give practical feedback and advice that can be applied both in and outside of sessions. I especially enjoy working with veterans, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and young adults. These groups often face unique challenges, and I consider it an honor to walk alongside them as they navigate life’s complexities. In addition to my clinical work, I have an extensive background in clinical research. While serving in the Air Force, I conducted sleep studies and developed modern treatment approaches for PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. This research continues to inform my practice, and I place strong emphasis on developing healthy routines, quality sleep schedules, and consistent self-care as foundations for mental health. I often work with clients to build structure into daily life, recognizing these habits play a powerful role in resilience and long-term well-being. Above all, my goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients feel empowered to face challenges, discover new perspectives, and build lasting resilience.

Hello, I'm Laura Hansen, a licensed psychologist dedicated to helping individuals find healing and growth. I am based in San Diego, California. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding and collaboration. I see my role as providing you with a supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, life transitions or relationship issues, I'm here to help you develop the tools to further your emotional well-being. A little bit about my background: I have provided mental health treatment, assessments, and consultations for over 25 years, working in a variety of settings including inpatient hospitals, military bases and local community practices. I am thrilled to be able to use this online platform in order to further extend my work with people. My foundation of training is with Cognitive Behavioral Interventions. Over the years I have developed a more eclectic approach and incorporated other modalities as well. I stay current with the latest evidence based treatments, and use my training and experience to tailor intervention methods based on my clients' needs. Many times I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as my primary treatment method. If you're not sure what this is, I'd be more than happy to talk about it with you when we meet. I have also provided a link below if you would like to look up some information before our first session. I have found this treatment to be powerful and effective, and in many cases to work faster than more traditional talk therapies.

A little about me: I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who, come to find out, originally got into this field largely to figure myself out. If you’ve never heard that from a therapist before, it’s actually a pretty common thread among us, we often subconsciously step into healing others as a way to find healing within ourselves. About 22 years ago, I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, and roughly 15 years ago, I received an OCD diagnosis. Having these two conditions overlap made things incredibly challenging throughout much of my life and if I’m being completely honest, navigating that balance can still have its moments today. But there’s something powerful about a wounded healer: we tend to want more for ourselves and for the people we serve than just standard, status-quo talk therapy. We dig deeper because we need real answers on a personal level, and once we find what works, we want to share it with the world.

My goal as a therapist is to help clients face both the real and perceived challenges in their lives with clarity, support, and renewed strength. I approach each person as a unique human being with their own story, strengths, and struggles, and I see therapy as a collaborative process of moving forward together. I work in a way that is direct and pragmatic, drawing on psychoeducation and clinical experience to give clients new ways of seeing, understanding, and coping with life’s difficulties. At the same time, my style is deeply connection-based, rooted in empathy and authenticity, with room for levity when appropriate. I am a hopeful therapist who believes in the process of growth and in our ability as human beings to continually renew ourselves. I find it a genuine honor to share in a client’s journey, and I approach the work with respect, presence, and care. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re used to handling things on your own. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood. I strive to bring a calm, non-anxious presence into the room while keeping therapy warm, conversational, and human. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety and panic disorders, OCD, ADHD, relationship concerns, and sexual dysfunctions. I also enjoy working with healthcare professionals and people who tend to overthink or feel like they don’t quite “fit in.” My approach is person-centered at its core, meaning I believe therapy works best when clients feel accepted and supported as they are. I then integrate different therapeutic approaches depending on each client’s needs and goals. I believe effective therapy is both human and clinical — connection matters, but so do practical tools and evidence-based strategies. In working with OCD and anxiety, I often remind clients that growth takes practice and consistency. Healing is possible, but it requires learning how to tolerate discomfort rather than avoid it. For couples, I view the relationship as a team. Therapy can help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and better understand one another. Faith-based or Christian counseling is also available for clients who would like to incorporate spirituality into therapy.

I specialize in helping adults recover from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic anxiety, and the lasting effects of complex trauma. My approach is active, collaborative, and recovery-focused. My goal is not simply to help you feel better during our sessions, but to help you build the skills and confidence to live your life with greater freedom outside of therapy. For clients struggling with OCD and anxiety, I use evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to help reduce fear, break unhelpful patterns, and develop lasting resilience. Therapy with me is an active process. Together we'll identify meaningful goals, practice practical skills, and take manageable steps toward lasting change. Recovery takes courage and commitment, but healing is possible. My role is to provide guidance, support, and evidence-based tools while empowering you to become increasingly confident in your ability to navigate life's challenges. If you're ready to do the work of recovery and build a life that feels bigger than anxiety, fear, or past experiences, I'd be honored to work with you.

Hi! I'm Nick and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in helping adults who are ready to move beyond just surviving and into a place of genuine connection and wholeness. I understand the profound weight you’ve been carrying for so long, whether it is the shadow of childhood trauma, navigating addiction or recovery, or the deep fatigue of not being fully seen. If you’ve spent years trying to hold it all together, navigating the world as a man, a trauma survivor, someone who is queer, neurodivergent, or in recovery, you may have learned to mask, people please, or stay small simply to survive. I specialize in supporting those who have felt fundamentally “othered” because of their identity, their sensitivity, or their complex struggles. My approach can be direct, relational, and deeply connected. You will not find judgment in our sessions. What you will find is honesty, profound compassion, and the kind of authentic support that allows you to safely let your guard down. I believe the most transformative healing happens in relationship through empathy, attunement, and having the space to be fully yourself, without the need for code-switching, masking, or minimizing any part of your experience. I bring warmth, humor, and realness into our work, meeting you exactly where you are today. Therapy with me is a genuine partnership, focusing on what you need, rather than a rigid prescription. We will collaborate to heal early wounds, develop profound self-compassion, and cultivate a life where you feel a sense of belonging in your own skin. If any of this resonates and if you are ready for a change and a relational experience with someone who understands your journey, I would be honored to connect with you.

Hi, I'm Melissa. I believe we are already whole—even in the messy, uncertain, beautifully human parts of life. Therapy isn't about fixing you or getting rid of the parts that feel hard; it's about getting curious, understanding yourself more deeply, and creating a life that feels authentic to who you are. As a neurodivergent-affirming therapist (and fellow neurospicy human), I know what it's like to spend years wondering if you're too much, not enough, or somehow doing life "wrong." My hope is to offer a space where you can set that down for a while. Together, we'll explore your experiences with curiosity instead of judgment, helping you reconnect with yourself and create a life that feels authentic, aligned, and true to you. I bring warmth, humor, and a little bit of whimsy into the therapy room because healing doesn't have to feel cold or clinical. Some of my favorite moments are when clients begin to trust themselves again, reconnect with the parts of themselves they've hidden away, and remember that they were never broken to begin with.

Hi, I’m Selena! As a first-generation therapist from the Latinx community, I understand that life can come with layers of family expectations, cultural values, responsibility, and the feeling that you’re supposed to just “figure it out.” I know how important it can be to have someone who understands those nuances without judgment. I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—messy, overwhelmed, confused, motivated, or somewhere in between. My approach is genuine, validating, and relatable. Hi, I'm Cheri, a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. If you're stuck in a loop of intrusive thoughts, checking, or needing to feel certain, I know how exhausting that can be, and I help teens and adults find their way out of it. The approach I use most is called Exposure and Response Prevention, or ERP. In everyday terms, we take small, manageable steps toward the things that scare you, without giving in to the urge to check or seek reassurance, so anxiety gradually loses its grip. I also draw on CBT, ACT, and mindfulness to help you feel steadier along the way. Together, we'll build your comfort with uncertainty so you can spend less time managing fear and more time living the way you want to. Therapy with me is collaborative and practical, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.

Hello, my name is Steven Nelson, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over nine years of clinical experience. While my professional background includes family and relationship therapy, my current focus is working with individuals, helping each person navigate their unique journey toward healing, personal growth, and emotional well-being. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with people from diverse backgrounds and professions, including first responders, law enforcement personnel, active-duty military members and their families, nurses, attorneys, and many others facing a wide range of life challenges. Life's difficulties are a natural part of the human experience. At times, individuals may feel isolated in their struggles or believe that no one truly understands what they are going through. These thoughts can contribute to anxiety, depression, substance use, and other challenges that impact relationships, work, and overall quality of life. When left unaddressed, these difficulties can become overwhelming and interfere with one's ability to move forward. I believe that meaningful change is possible through a compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based therapeutic approach. My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can gain insight, build effective coping skills, strengthen resilience, and develop healthier ways of managing life's challenges. Together, we can work toward healing, personal wellness, and lasting positive change. In addition to my Psychological Therapy license, I hold specialties certifications in Drug and Alcohol addiction, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Sex Addiction, Trauma and Domestic Violence prevention.

I’m Allan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy—especially for kids—doesn’t have to mean sitting on a couch talking about feelings for 50 minutes. Sometimes the best conversations happen over LEGOs, games, art, play, or while doing something that makes it easier to simply be yourself. Online, it could mean processing trauma, playing online therapeutic games with children (or adults if you want to). I especially enjoy working with children and teens, including kids who are anxious, overwhelmed, navigating trauma, struggling with big emotions or behaviors, or having a hard time putting what’s happening inside into words. I use play, creativity, humor, and evidence-based approaches to build connection and help kids develop skills without therapy feeling like another place where adults are telling them what to do. I also work with adults navigating trauma, mood concerns, relationships, identity, major life changes, and life’s more complicated chapters. My style is warm, humorous, direct, and genuinely human. I draw from DBT, EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, play-based interventions, Theraplay-informed practices, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, adapting therapy to the person in front of me rather than expecting them to adapt to therapy. My professional experience includes inpatient psychiatry, juvenile justice, child welfare, family services, and community mental health, so I’m comfortable working with both everyday struggles and situations that feel especially complicated. Whether we meet in my Eureka office or online, my goal is to create a space where you—or your child—feel safe, understood, and comfortable showing up exactly as you are. My practice is LGBTQIA+ and gender-diverse affirming and neurodiversity-affirming. And yes, there are credentials behind the LEGOs.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD), is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
