Laraib Ali
I’m a compassionate therapist who believes that therapy should feel like a safe space where you can be your authentic self without fear of judgment. I see myself as someone who listens deeply, meets people where they are, and walks alongside them as they navigate life’s challenges. I value creating a genuine therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and collaboration.
First session
During the first session, my goal is for clients to feel welcomed, heard, and understood. We will take time to get to know each other, discuss what brought you to therapy, explore the challenges you’re currently facing, and begin identifying your goals for treatment. I also want to understand your experiences, strengths, values, and what you hope to gain from therapy so that we can create a treatment approach that feels meaningful and individualized to you. I hope you leave your first session feeling a little lighter, with a sense that you don’t have to navigate everything alone. Most importantly, I want you to feel that you have found a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and begin taking steps toward meaningful change.
Strengths
As a therapist, I’m warm and supportive while also being honest and gently encouraging when it can help you move forward. I believe growth doesn’t mean changing who you are—it means developing a deeper understanding of yourself and learning to move through life with greater confidence, resilience, balance, and self-trust. If you’re looking for a therapist who will truly listen, meet you where you are, and work with you rather than simply tell you what to do, I hope to provide that space for you.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone navigating a challenging or transitional season of life and looking for a supportive, collaborative space to better understand themselves and move forward. They may be experiencing grief or trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, cultural or family-related challenges, or the emotional changes that can come with pregnancy, motherhood, and other major life transitions. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of how to cope with what they’re experiencing. Some may be coming to therapy for the first time, while others may have had previous experiences with therapy. I work best with clients who are open to self-reflection and willing to explore their thoughts, emotions, patterns, and goals at their own pace. My approach is collaborative and individualized. I integrate CBT, supportive therapy, goal-oriented strategies, and psychodynamic approaches to help clients gain insight, develop practical coping skills, process difficult experiences, and build greater self-esteem and emotional resilience.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns of thinking that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or other challenges and explore whether those thoughts are accurate, helpful, or influenced by past experiences. In sessions, we work collaboratively to develop healthier and more balanced ways of thinking while also focusing on practical strategies clients can use outside of therapy. Depending on their needs, this may include challenging negative thought patterns, building coping skills, setting achievable goals, practicing emotional regulation, and gradually changing behaviors that may be keeping them feeling stuck. I view CBT as a collaborative process rather than simply telling clients to “think positively.” My goal is to help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and gain practical tools they can use to navigate difficult situations with greater confidence and resilience.
