Rosie Pescador
Hello, my name is Rosie Pescador, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed in the state of California. I have been a therapist for more than 16 years and have worked with children, adolescents, and adults with different backgrounds and orientations.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with 16 years of experience of providing therapeutic services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked with clients experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational concerns.
I use a multi-pronged approach that will incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), and a strength-based approach. I have extensive experience working with crisis intervention, trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, victims of domestic violence, mood dysregulation, and parenting skills.
First session
Taking the step to start therapy can be overwhelming and there are a lot of the unknowns. I like to explain to clients that first session is providing a snapshot of what they are currently experiencing to then formulate a plan of action in assisting them to feel better or explore ways to manage life stressors. It is a collaborate effort, while providing a safe space to begin to explore how to move forward.
Strengths
My goal in therapy is to provide every individual with the skills to assist them in managing their life and possible stressors that may be impacting them at the moment. I enjoy using psychoeducation, mindfulness, positive coping skills, affirmations, empowerment, and or tools that can be implemented in their life. I strive to provide every individual with an environment that is non-judgment, empathetic, empowering, and safe. I encourage an individual to find autonomy and take personal responsibility in their journey.
Ideal clients
My ideal client would be any individual that is open and willing to do the work, to be open to learning a new set of skills and be open to improving communication with others. I enjoy helping people find their voice, reach autonomy, and help them advocate for themselves. I can work with individuals, families, and couples who are struggling to manage with everyday functioning.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) is a modality that can be helpful for everyone, beginning with children. DBT is a set of skills that can help anyone manage emotions, stay in the present moment, and identify what relationships are important to them and how to keep them. DBT helps individuals find alternative ways to cope, accept things that are out of their control, and allows them to work on being present.
