Liz May
I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience treating adults of all ages and life stages. I especially love working with clients who are navigating a new transition or challenge, and are looking for someone to help them find their way back to themselves. Often, my clients have faced challenge before such as having a trauma history, family dysfunction, ADHD, Anxiety or Depression.
First session
During the first session, I would love to learn what brought you to therapy and begin to get an idea of how I can help you. I will start getting to know you, ranging from what your childhood was like to what is important for me to know about your life now.
Strengths
My style is warm and compassionate where I will focus on creating a safe space for you to be fully yourself. I tend to be more of an active therapist though, and feel comfortable challenging you to consider whether your thoughts are accurate, or whether your coping style and behavior patterns are perhaps no longer working for you.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is self reflective and open to both self examination as well as feedback from others. They usually have already been trying to work on themselves, but feel stuck in some way and value working with a professional to help guide them in this process. I love to work with clients who have a growth mindset and want to challenge themselves to be the best version of themself they can be.
Treatment methods
Integrative
I will integrate different approaches and interventions that will be specifically tailored to you and your concerns.
