I work best with people who are curious about themselves and open to being honest, even when it feels uncomfortable. Many start therapy because of anxiety or depression, but these feelings often signal something deeper, like a weak sense of identity or a lack of purpose. If you are ready to explore your inner world and face what you find, I would be glad to support you on that journey. Hi, My name is Aaron and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who loves to see people start taking more control over their life and empowering them to become the mature, healthy person that they've always wanted to be. I've found that many people get bogged down by false lies/narratives that they have in their heads like, "I'm not good enough", "I can't handle it", or the all too common "I don't deserve ... ". These lies, whether we realize it or not, end up impacting many area's of our life, especially the way we view ourselves. With me, my hope is that you will have a transformative experience in the way you look at yourself and believe in yourself. My goal is for you to grow in believing, "There are many good things about me and that's enough", or "I actually can handle it, and I can figure things out" or "I actually do deserve ..." When you grow in actually believing these things, it's amazing how much more mature, healthy and confident you become. You can actually re-write the way you think about yourself and you can experience life to the fullest!

I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the Bay Area, but never truly appreciated it until I left and came back. I attended high school in Marin at the Branson School in Ross. After High School I left for Wheaton College in Massachusetts where I earned a B.A. in Psychology. I moved to Florida where I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Prior to earning my Masters in Psychology I spent a number of years working in child and adolescent residential treatment centers in both San Francisco and Orlando, Florida. It was at this time that I fell in love with working with adolescents, adults, and their families. After graduate school, I found myself working for, and soon thereafter managing, an inpatient treatment program for adolescents who had experienced severe trauma. I returned to California for good in 2011 where I started working as the Lead Therapist for the Adolescent Outpatient Program at Fremont Hospital. I opened a part time private practice in 2012 and transitioned to a full time practice in San Francisco in early 2013.

When it comes to the therapeutic experience, my treatment motto is “therapy is a collaborative journey.” In treatment, the client or the patient sets the pace for treatment. As a clinician, we are trained to meet our patienst and clients where they are, currently, and provide services as appropriate. I always use this analogy when introducing how treatment will proceed to clients. I explain to clients that the therapeutic journey is like a road trip. They are in the driver's seat. They are setting the pace. They are deciding the route and the destination. All I do, as their therapist, is hold the GPS, suggest alternative routes when needed, and set the music.

Love and work are essential to a meaningful life. Relationships with others define experience and work gives a sense of purpose. Disturbance in these affect well being and contribute to an overwhelmed response leading to collapse. As trauma is relational so is recovery and healing. Hi there, I primarily work in substance use recovery (abstinence and harm reduction) and trauma recovery. I also have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, and sleep issues/insomnia. My treatment orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy concepts, however the foundation of my early training was Psychodynamic. I have been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation), and Seeking Safety for trauma treatment. When treating anxiety, I take a CBT, or exposure approach with skill-building. For depression I utilize CBT concepts, or behavioral activation with skill-building. For sleep issues, I work with the CBT for insomnia treatment model. These are just a few examples of treatment approaches I utilize. I am relational focused, which to me means finding a plan that works best for you, practicing cultural humility and not trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. I look forward to working with you.

Hello, I’m Deric Placker, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Lancaster, California. Beginning my career in 2018, I have dedicated my life to helping individuals break unhealthy behavioral loops, navigate complex life transitions, and discover their full potential. I absolutely love this career, and there is nothing more rewarding to me than watching my clients grow, heal, and reclaim their personal agency. What makes me uniquely easy to relate to is that I haven’t always sat in the therapist's chair. I spent the early part of my life working hard as a miner. However, my path shifted permanently in 2009 when I suffered a stroke and subsequently fell into a deep, consuming depression. During that dark period, my own therapist threw me a lifeline and inspired me to pull myself out of the spiral. That pivotal experience changed my life, driving me to go back to school so I could dedicate my life to helping others find their way back from rock bottom.
