In our first session, we will begin to develop a therapeutic relationship by talking about why you are seeking counseling. You will introduce me to your life and share some of your experiences as we explore different areas of your journey. We will be able to determine together what is most important to you at this point in your life.
As a clinician, providing a safe space to explore and express personal needs, thoughts, and feelings is primary. Most clients benefit from my honest feedback, insight, and realistic approach to helping them reach a higher level of self acceptance.
I enjoy empowering those suffering from substance abuse and common life challenges to live their best life through helping them overcome substance use, establish healthy relationships, and adjust to life beginning with a firm but nurturing relationship.
CBT is essential to personal growth and it encourages use of practical steps for life long positive change. I apply this approach in individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling services by helping to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenging those unhelpful thinking patterns, and replacing them with helpful/positive thinking.
I utilize motivational interviewing to establish an accepting and inviting counseling relationship. During the counseling relationship, personal accountability and responsibility for change becomes the focal point while using practical steps from CBT.
