My name is Dave Rogers, and I have been counseling professionally for over 30 years. I have worked at inpatient and residential treatment centers for Eating Disorders, and addictions, and as you can imagine - worked with families and loved ones impacted by these extremely difficult problems. I am so fortunate to have worked with gifted teams of professionals who taught me everything I know. I have also worked extensively as an outpatient therapist since 2011 when I opened my private practice. I heard a statement early in my career that impacted my practice of therapy greatly: "People don't care what you know, until they know you care". Research continues to verify that the quality of the therapy relationship is the foundation for all the other work. So - I do my very best to make a comfortable and supportive relationship from the start, because people often come to therapy with apprehension, fear, or bad experiences with therapy that cause them to be reluctant, or hesitant to open up and address their struggles and pain. One of my early goals in therapy is to listen so well, that the client says "you get me". I do my best to help clients heal, change, grow, and work toward contentment with themselves and life, as much as possible.

I have worked extensively with individuals with developmental disabilities and physical disabilities. I am passionate about helping people work through challenging life issues that have been impacted by trauma, marginalization, and lack of autonomy. I have experience with depression, PTSD, anxiety, attachment issues, chronic stress, and ADHD. I have been trained extensively in Somatic Experiencing (SE), which is a trauma modality that supports the gentle release of bound trauma in the nervous system. Through body-based interventions, I can support and release nervous system patterning to assist in resolving symptoms of trauma. SE is effective for the treatment of chronic stress and pain, anxiety, hypervigilance, depression, ADHD, early attachment problems, and body awareness. I am also skilled with using bottom-up regulation strategies using expressive arts and play to assist with issues that are more prone to be relieved through right brain processes, versus traditional cognitive models of therapy. I have a sincere belief that therapy is a guide to be used to help the individual reach the answers to their own healing and I gain satisfaction in partnering in the journey toward that healing and self-discovery.

Throughout my studies, my practicum experience consisted of working with the Maryland Truancy Court Reduction Program and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. My experience has afforded me the opportunity to learn from and support individuals who struggle with everyday life stressors, those that are impacted by mild, moderate, severe and chronic mental illness. My background includes adolescents, young adults, adults, and geriatrics who are struggling with mental health challenges. In 2017 I began working in leadership at Gateway Homes, Inc. where I gained expertise with serving individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. I am dedicated to assisting in your journey to find support and encouragement to process life’s challenges. I commend you for your willingness to seek available resources and welcome the opportunity to work together. During my career, I've had the pleasure of being involved with individuals (and their families) who have experienced life-changing events as well as daily hardships. These experiences have helped me realize that we all can grow, expand our resilience and obtain our goals. With the guidance of a trained therapist, this process may be a bit smoother.

Greetings, I am Melissa. I know what it's like to feel you have no one who hears you when you speak. I know what it's like to feel you have no one to trust to confide in who is a good listener and not judgemental. I've been there, I know it's hard. I am here to listen. I am here to confide in with a non judgemental attitude. I would love to have the opportunity to help you find yourself and become the best version of yourself. All I ask is for you to be open to positive change and brave enough to take the first step and reaching out. I know sometimes it's hard to seek and ask for help but you can do it! I am experienced in using CBT and DBT therapy techniques to help you address your struggles with anxiety and depression. Looking forward to walking with you as you start your journey to better and stronger health!

I am a licensed therapist dedicated to helping adults navigate life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and compassion. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. I believe everyone has the capacity for growth, healing, and fulfillment, and therapy can be a powerful step toward reaching that potential. I work with women and men who are managing stress, anxiety, perfectionism, or significant life transitions such as parenthood, career shifts, or relationship changes. Many of my clients are striving to balance multiple roles while also wanting to prioritize their own happiness and well-being. In our work together, I may use different modalities such psychodynamic, cognitive, humanistic, and group therapy to meet each client’s unique needs. We may explore underlying patterns, identify and shift unhelpful thought processes, and build on existing strengths. My role is to support clients in gaining insight, developing effective coping tools, and creating healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. Clients often leave therapy with a deeper sense of self, improved resilience, and the confidence to make meaningful changes. My mission is to empower both women and men to move beyond what holds them back and build lives of balance, purpose, and fulfillment.

My practice assists Black clients across North America who are impacted by a range of concerns including trauma, anxiety, and depression through a racially-sensitive treatment approach. We also work with individual clients seeking to improve their self-concept by understanding and processing the impact of historical and generational racial trauma on their relationships with themselves, their families, their friends, and their partners. I am a therapist who strives to fully understand my clients and their needs to create an optimized approach to meet their goals. I specialize in working primarily with individual adult clients to help them deal with issues such as infidelity, communication, stress management, anger management, relationship building, sexuality, etc. At Yolo Therapy, our ultimate goal is the well-being of our clients. For various reasons, many clients are unable to access traditional therapy settings but I do not believe that should prevent them from receiving exceptional services. I have catered my practice to the needs of those who need alternative options to therapy and am here to help you. ****Please note: Your initial session is ONLY TO ASSESS FOR THERAPEUTIC COMPATIBILITY. ****

I'm your partner! Let's navigate life's challenges as they emerge. I'm your partner that supports you in building those healthy coping skills that already exists within; a healthier version of your self. It's like my Texas sister Beyonce' says "Let me upgrade you". As the times change, we must have the ability to upgrade the manner in which we embrace and manage the impact of those changes such as changes in job, relocation, death of a loved one or family member, empty-nesters, transitioning into a caretaker role for a parent , child, or sibling.... I have an interesting educational background as I presently have a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, A Master's of Social Work from The University of New England and presently working towards a Doctorate of Psychology in Behavioral Health Leadership. In my free time I love to eat seafood and spend time with my family. I hope to partner with you soon as you are the expert of your life.
