I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) as well as a licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC) based in Texas. I've been working in this field for about 12 years. Welcome. I’m a combat veteran and retired Army officer, Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and experienced clinical psychologist. I want to get into the root causes of your struggles or battle and find ways to overcome, change, forgive, accept, and move upward toward the light. It may not seem like it, but the darkness will eventually lift, and the light will surely shine again.
Life is a battle in the heart, and I humbly accept that I will be in my own battle or someone else’s battle for the rest of my life. Like the weather, our emotions are powerful. Many days the sun shines, but the rains do come and sometimes a destructive storm hits hard (divorce, the loss of a loved one, cancer, suicidal thoughts, et cetera). It's a battlefield. When it comes to the challenge of relationships, so often, it is ego (wounded pride), self-esteem, and powerful emotions at the root of our conflicts. To understand these forces is the key to peace. Let's work through it!
I have been honored to be in the field of psychology for 22 years since 2004. Through the years, more than half of my time was in the Army where I primarily worked with soldiers enduring anxiety, depression, trauma, Traumatic Brain Injury, and all the other usual suspects of psychological distress. It was a time well for the analysis of guilt, fear, worry, shame, pain, heartbreak, addiction, identity conflicts, and sorrow. I’ve also worked in the prisons for many years with some extreme situations (i.e., murder, severe mental illness, rape, child molestation, drug kingpins, gang leaders). So, no matter what your circumstances are, never quit and never give up! Survival is a noble plight!
I utilize a person-centered, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based approach when working with clients on becoming their better selves. I always show up as my authentic self and I want you to feel safe and comfortable to do the same. My time with you is dedicated to processing thoughts, exploring emotions, identifying patterns, and learning coping skills to manage the problems in your life.

I'm so glad you found me! I love working with adults concerning anxiety, depression and trauma. Anxiety isn't just fear or nervousness. Anxiety happens when we aren't willing to process difficult emotions. Anxiety can present itself through anger/projection, isolation, busy-ness, and being unusually overwhelmed. As I operate within the Bowen Family Systems theory, a safe space is created that promotes the ability to process these undesired emotions lending the ability to promote emotional resiliency, maturity and balance!
My enthusiasm in working with adults who've suffered from past traumas through EMDR is unmatched. EMDR is a type of therapy where past traumas are processed in a safe/controlled manner. I've found most fulfilment in utilizing EMDR with parental wounds. Once those wounds are processed, clarity to withdraw from current dysfunctional patterns can be achieved.

As a counselor with over 25 years of experience, I can help with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, family and relationship issues, addiction and crisis of the spirit, I specialize in discovering what is at the core of problems and use a variety of healing and treatment modalities tailored to each client. I’ve found working with the unconscious, especially through dreams, more than anything, helps gain the insight and understanding necessary to heal quickly, permanently and remove the blocks that get in the way of a happier, more successful life. You can’t fix anything until you make it conscious. A wholistic approach that addresses the body, mind and spirit works very well to reveal the fullness of who you are.
I have experience working with a variety of counseling modalities, such as cognitive/ behavioral, dream work, hypnosis and alternative methods of healing, in addition to meditation and mindfulness. I’ve worked with couples, families, addicts and clients who are dually diagnosed, meaning they have both mental health and addiction issues.
