Licensed to practice in Texas and accepts 39 insurances. Specializes in Anxiety, Depression, Grief and 9 more.
I am a bilingual, licensed clinical social worker with over 21 years of experience working with individuals, parents, children, and families through community organizations. I specialize in working with women and children survivors of crime, domestic violence, and abuse issues. My communication style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and validated. Through active listening and thoughtful questions, I help clients gain clarity, identify strengths, and develop practical strategies for reaching their goals.
During our first session, we'll take time to explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I'll gather some background information and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process. Most importantly, we'll begin building a trusting relationship that will serve as the foundation for our work together. You can expect a warm, supportive environment where you feel safe to share your experiences and start your journey towards healing and growth.
My goal is to help you navigate life's challenges with resilience, self-awareness, and a renewed sense of purpose. Whether you're facing a difficult transition, struggling with anxiety or depression, healing from trauma, or seeking personal growth, I'm here to support you every step of the way. Together, we'll identify your unique strengths, develop coping strategies, and create a roadmap for achieving your goals and living a more fulfilling life.
I work with individuals of all ages, including adolescents/teens, and adults. Areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, parenting, self-esteem, and coping with chronic illness or pain. I have extensive experience supporting women and children impacted by abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.

I thought it would be a lot harder to find a provider I would feel comfortable with, however, Melinda was fantastic from the start. Her whole personality set me at ease immediately. I am excited to work together and see the results that will come from our sessions.

I've met with Dr. Garcia for about a year and found that this time under her care was effective and had positive outcomes. Dr. Garcia helped me set realistic goals, offered great education regarding some of the topics I was struggling with, and walked me through how to best meet my goals. She has been kind, clear, and supportive the whole time and offered a safe place to discuss anything. She held me accountable for doing my part as well and that was helpful. She's a great therapist!
