Life can feel heavy when you are trying to manage anxiety, depression, stress, self-doubt, or major life changes while still showing up for everyone and everything around you. You may look like you have it together on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, stuck, or unsure of your next step. I work with young adults and adults who are navigating life transitions, relationship stress, career stress, self-esteem concerns, emotional overwhelm, and the pressure of trying to figure everything out. Therapy with me is a space where you do not have to carry it all alone. I offer a warm, authentic, and supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Together, we will work on understanding your emotions, building healthy coping skills, strengthening confidence, and helping you feel more grounded and in control of your life. I’m Dr. Karress Vallier, LCSW, and my approach is compassionate, real, and solution-focused.
In our first session, we will spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brought you to therapy. You will have space to share your story, current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. We will also begin identifying your goals and exploring practical steps to help you feel more supported, grounded, and confident moving forward.
I bring warmth, authenticity, compassion, and a solution-focused approach to my sessions. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being honest and fully themselves. My approach stands out because I balance emotional support with practical tools, helping clients better understand their emotions, challenge unhelpful thoughts, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.
My ideal clients are young adults and adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. They may be navigating life transitions, relationship stress, career stress, depression, self-esteem concerns, or the pressure of trying to manage everything on their own. I am best positioned to serve clients who are ready to better understand themselves, strengthen coping skills, build confidence, and create healthier patterns in their lives. Whether you are just beginning therapy or returning after some time away, my goal is to provide a supportive, empowering space where you can feel heard, challenged with care, and encouraged as you work toward healing and growth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of why they keep falling into the same patterns. Through CBT, I help clients identify unhelpful thoughts, challenge negative beliefs, and develop healthier coping strategies. My approach is supportive and practical, allowing clients to build skills they can use outside of session in everyday life.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My person-centered approach focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. I believe clients are the experts on their own lives, and my role is to support them as they explore their emotions, experiences, strengths, and goals. This approach allows clients to feel empowered, build self-awareness, and move toward healing and growth at a pace that feels right for them.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, clarify their goals, and take practical steps toward change. This approach is helpful for clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin. Rather than focusing only on the problem, we also explore what is working, what has helped in the past, and what small changes can create progress. My goal is to help clients feel more confident, capable, and empowered in their daily lives.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use mindfulness-based techniques to help clients slow down, feel more grounded, and become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical responses. This approach can be especially helpful for anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, and difficulty staying present. I help clients practice tools such as grounding, breathing, emotional awareness, and self-compassion so they can respond to life’s challenges with more calm, clarity, and control.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore ambivalence, strengthen motivation, and identify meaningful reasons for change. This approach is helpful for clients who may feel stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed by the next steps in their healing process. I work collaboratively with clients to help them recognize their strengths, clarify their goals, and build confidence in their ability to make positive changes at their own pace.

Speaking with Karress always takes a weight off my shoulders. She finds authentic ways to connect and make situations feel relatable, as opposed to going through challenging times feeling isolated and targeted. She does amazing holding space for me, reminding me to do the same for myself, all while holding myself accountable to my goals. She's truly a positive light in my life. Plus she's funny and friendly
