Willis, TX - Accepting clients in TX

I am a second career social worker, who graduated with my MSW in 2014 and my Ph.D. in 2019, both from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but have lived in the Houston area for 30+ years. I decided to become a social worker because of my personal experiences raising a child with behavioral health issues and experiencing profound loss following the sudden death of my husband. My goals were to help others the way my own family had been helped, but I also hoped to improve the experiences of others with similar lived experiences but less positive outcomes. I have worked in a variety of settings, including West Oaks Hospital (a specialty psychiatric hospital) and its affiliated outpatient settings, where I provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults and adolescents experiencing significant mental health crises. I have also worked in home hospice care, assisting individuals and families with both pre-bereavement and post-bereavement support, and where I facilitated online support groups for caregivers and for individuals experiencing grief and bereavement. In addition to my private practice, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work, and I frequently consult with immigration lawyers about the ways in which mental health issues may impact the path to asylum or citizenship. I practice with a trauma-informed style and am always conscious of the ways in which trauma impacts the lives and experiences of individuals in all walks of life. I have experience working with people who live with ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, and mood disorders generally. My goal is always to support my clients in achieving their own goals for a happier and healthier life.

Welcome! I specialize in providing a safe and confidential space where clients can process and talk about issues that they are facing. I also support first responders and veterans through their transition to civilian life, addressing issues related to PTSD, addictions, anxiety, depression, and more. My ultimate goal is to foster resilience and empower my clients to overcome obstacles to improve their overall well-being. I take pleasure in collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and professions, particularly witnessing the remarkable personal growth that therapy can facilitate. I apply a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, and humanistic therapy. I tailor these methods to suit the unique needs of each individual I work with, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach in my therapy sessions. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and non-judgment, ensuring that every client feels heard, valued, and understood throughout their therapeutic journey. I enjoy working with all individuals and seeing their growth with each session.

Spring, TX - Accepting clients in TX

Hi, my name is Mark. Thank you for considering me as your therapist. It would be my pleasure to get to work with you! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist; that means that not only do I work with individuals who experience all kinds of mental health challenges, but I also specialize in systemic, or relational therapy - working with couples, families & groups. I am a Presidential Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. If you want your faith included in your therapy, please let me know; your sessions will be as "spiritual" as you'd like, and no more. I have been providing therapy and counseling since 2016, and most recently worked as the therapy manager for a clinic that has four locations. Though I have worked with all populations (youngest 5 years old and oldest 94), young kids have trouble sitting still in front of a camera. Children under the age of 15 would be better served in an office setting, in my opinion. I have been with my amazing wife for over 35 years now, and have two wonderful adult children. I enjoy sports, music and all kinds of "outdoorzie" stuff. I most of all just enjoy time with my family. Most of my clients profess to sincerely enjoy working with me; I tend to connect with my clients on a deeper level, and in a more meaningful way, than some other therapists. Many say that they or their children work better with me than any other therapist, counselor or doctor they've experienced. I am humbled and immensely grateful for their kind words. I offer my clients a soft place to fall in their hurts and struggles while providing them a firm place to stand in their healing and growth. Always, in a judgment-free way.

Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-S) based in Texas. I am originally from San Antonio, Texas, and received my bachelor’s degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. During my undergraduate work I had the opportunity to study abroad in Accra, Ghana. After my ungraduate studies, I stayed in Austin for a while to continue working overnight at a shelter for survivors of sexual and domestic violence for women, children, and transgendered women while answering a 24/7 National Suicide Prevention Hotline. I went on to attain my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston. I spent two additional years in clinical supervision working in hospitals, crisis mobile mental health, and facilitating groups to attain my independent clinical license. Thereafter, I spent time in clinical practice to build expertise to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor providing individual, family, and group therapy. Most recently I have broadened my scope of practice to include my Chemical Dependency Counseling license and Certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. In my free time, I enjoy singing, spending time with family and friends, cooking, film, and television. I help adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship distress, and work related stress become the best versions of themselves.

Welcome my friends. I’m a combat veteran and retired Army officer, a devout Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and experienced clinical psychologist. I want to get into the root causes of your battle and find ways to overcome, change, forgive, accept, and move upward toward the light. It may not seem like it, but the darkness will eventually lift, and the light will surely shine again. Life is a battle in the heart, and I humbly accept that I will be in my own battle or someone else’s battle for the rest of my life. Like the weather, our emotions are powerful. Many days the sun shines, but the rains do come and sometimes a destructive storm hits hard (divorce, the loss of a loved one, cancer, suicidal thoughts, et cetera). It's a battlefield. When it comes to the challenge of relationships, so often, it is ego (pride), self-esteem, and powerful emotions at the root of our conflicts. To understand these forces is the key to peace. Let's work through it! I have been honored to be in the field of psychology for 20 years since 2004. Through the years, more than half of my time was in the Army where I primarily worked with soldiers enduring anxiety, depression, trauma, Traumatic Brain Injury, and all the other usual suspects of psychological distress. It is time well spent to analyze our guilt, fear, worry, shame, pain, heartbreak, addiction, identity conflicts, and sorrow. I’ve also worked in the prisons for many years with some extreme situations (i.e., murder, severe mental illness, rape, child molestation, drug kingpins, gang leaders). So, no matter what your circumstances are, never quit and never give up! Survival is a noble plight!

My professional experience working within counseling has allowed me to become skilled and comfortable in delivering solution focused therapy. My theoretical orientation aligns with Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, however, I hold a strong belief that a counselor should possess technical eclecticism and be comfortable and well-versed in many theoretical orientations and interventions in an effort to accommodate the varying and diverse individual needs of clients. With that goal in mind, I continue to stay immersed in other styles such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy, to name a few, while also maintaining a Humanistic approach at the core of my counseling approach. When working with couples and families, I utilize Family Systems Therapy, Structural Therapy, Strategic Therapy and Transgenerational Therapy approaches as treatment modalities. I am also Gottman Level I certified and enjoy utilizing the Gottman Approach when working with couples.

I was called to this work because my own struggles with depression and substance abuse, and, though I had to struggle in order to get where I am, I feel so grateful for my experiences. I have a passion for mindfulness and compassion in my work and like to incorporate breathing techniques and music whenever possible because, frankly, these are things that have worked well for me! I have also adopted Polyvagal Therapy- a cutting-edge modality in our field- as one of my go-to approaches. Polyvagal therapy will help you to understand the power of the mind-body connection while improving your relationship with yourself and the world around you. The best part of being a licensed professional counselor in Texas is the opportunity I've had over the years to help lots of folks deal with tough problems like anger, stress, social anxiety, cheating in relationships, as well as struggles with sex and porn addiction. My goal is to help you find your inner strength, bounce back from hard times, and build better relationships. Are you getting angry more often and have trouble getting along with coworkers? Do you feel tired all the time, so you don't seem to enjoy things like you did before, and now spend more time alone? Are you and your spouse fighting a lot and thinking about divorce? Do you do things that seem like a quick fix but don’t really make life better? Maybe you just want to relax more, lower your stress, and feel healthier? No matter what’s going on in your life, choosing online therapy shows that you want to feel better and understand yourself more. Also, online therapy makes it easy to get the support you need on your schedule in the comfort and safety of your home.

Hello, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Texas and Tennessee with 30 years of counseling and ministry experience. I began as a minister of the Gospel in the Southern Baptist tradition in 1993 working with the homeless to overcome the struggles of addiction and hopelessness in North Carolina and Tennessee. From there, I became a case manager in a rural oupatient behavioral health clinic helping the chronically mentally ill live independently outside of the institutional settings. As my family of five children grew, my wife encouraged me to join the military in 2007 and for the next 13 years we served alongside our Soldiers and their Families as a chaplain. There, I learned through experience how to work through the stress of multiple transitions, the unyeilding demands for time and energy, and the unjust nature of toxic environments. I learned how to support those who wanted to strengthen themselves and their relationships in these environments and to ultimately be at peace with who they are and who they want to be. As I have matured in my training and become licensed in marriage and family therapy, I have found that I now specialize in using Solution Focused therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals identify their strengths and the beliefs that are guiding their behavior. With this knowledge, people can begin to choose who they want to be.

My career started as a classroom teacher and school counselor. I currently have over 20 years of experience working with students and families. In addition to my school counseling career, I am a crisis clinician in a major hospital in the DFW metroplex and work in over 32 emergency rooms providing on-call patient care. We all face unexpected challenges which sometimes leave us feeling hopeless and powerless. I believe that we have the ability to make healthy and appropriate choices regardless of the circumstances in which we may find ourselves. My role as a therapist is to assist and support clients as they learn new ways of coping and adjusting to life’s challenges. Counseling will vary depending upon one’s personality, stage of life, strengths or particular concern. Getting started can feel overwhelming. You have no idea where to even begin. You’ve been putting off therapy because you’re afraid it won’t help. More than anything you’d like to be able to feel happy again. You’d like to be able to put yourself out there more and to create deeper, more meaningful relationships with others. You want to have the courage to be your authentic self without hiding behind a mask.

I work a lot with the LGBTQ+ community, including trans, NB, gay, bisexual, straight, pansexual, or asexual. I also treat the following: domestic violence, social anxiety, depression, anxiety, autism, ADHD, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, relationship issues, sexual abuse, academic stress, trauma, bipolar disorder, hoarding, personality disorders, and work stress. I have a casual approach and I like to let my clients guide their sessions, but if a person doesn't know what to say, I provide questions. Whenever I do have questions, I will never push a person for answers.

“Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” — C.S. Lewis. I believe we all have the ability to heal and transform our lives - and we all have a unique path to get us there. Let’s discover your deepest truths together so that your heart and mind may be renewed and you might live more abundantly. If you're willing to do some work, I will work hard to create a safe space for you, and we can collaborate on this journey together. I have Master's degrees in Counseling and Religious Studies, so I can incorporate spiritual guidance into counseling if you would like(completely optional). I also have training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and worked previously as a hospital chaplain which was an incredible experience. However, I'm proud to say that I have formed wonderful relationships with clients of all bends, and even of no particular faith background. I have respect for all faiths and traditions as long as they are life-giving. "You shall know [Your] truth, and it shall set you free."

My name is Richard Spires. I believe in the therapeutic alliance. Counseling is a team effort and we get the best results when we work together. Part of my counseling style is that I take time getting to know you and try to truly understand your issues. I have been to counseling myself and had experiences where I felt the therapist was not trying to understand my problems. I told myself that when I become a counselor, I never want any of my patients to feel like I didn't care. So I take pride in getting to know you and understanding your problems. So whenever you're ready to talk, I'm ready to listen.

I have always had the conscious goal of supporting others with being able to overcome their hardships and internal challenges that prevents them from being successful. I am a firm believer that in life we have all experienced some type of challenge that will impact our thoughts and emotions. For some people the challenge is more difficult than others and they will experience greater hardship and internal challenges that will send them on a spiral to the unknown. Being a therapist has always been a desire of mine to support others with understanding their thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors associated with how they feel.
