My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, welcoming space to help you explore the challenges that experiencing anxiety, depression or trauma can create. I believe that the best tool to use in therapy is the one that fits you and your unique challenges the best. I am going to take the lead from you on what therapy should be and how you can best be helped.
Our first session together will be an opportunity for you to meet me and decide if I am the right therapist for you. We will talk about your current challenges and goals and how we can work towards them.
I have been a therapist for more than 10 years. My strengths lie in my ability to connect with a broad range of people and to adjust what we are doing to meet their unique challenges. I am astounded daily by the strength and courage that my clients have to meet the challenges they face. Listening and understanding where you are has made me a better therapist.
For adults: I work with individuals and couples/partners, beginning with talk therapy and expanding to other techniques as I get to know you. For children ages 3 to 10: I am a registered play therapist through the Association for Play Therapy and use play therapy exclusively for this age group. *I serve this age group only through in person sessions.* *I don't currently work with clients between 11 and 13
We all have a past and it shapes who we are. I use this method to understand how that past lead you to be who you are now, both the strong you that is navigating hard things, and the you that struggles.
I use CBT in conjunction with traditional talk therapy to help find and redirect the thoughts that can keep you stuck in your anxiety and depression.
I love working with couples and have worked with them my entire career. Couples counseling can help couples with maintenance and communication in their relationship, parenting issues, or to work through significant issues such as infidelity.
I am a registered play therapist and use play therapy exclusively with children from 3 to 10 to help manage anxiety and depression, increase self-confidence and coping and increase resilience.
Trauma comes in many forms for different people, but Cognitive Processing Therapy can help decrease symptoms. It is a structured therapy that I have found to work for many people including veterans and civilians.
